Since my joining back in the summer of '07, I have always maintained that I do not like Spydercos, and I've always said that the thumb holes just "don't work for me."
This is no longer the case.
I was at a local gun shop today, and all Spyderco models were 20% off, for a New Year's sale. I figured I'd take advangtage of this and actually looked at Spydercos, something I had always refused to do. My prejudice was based on handling hard-to-open knives at big-box outdoor stores, as well as Chinese made Byrds, but the Spydercos I held here felt nothing of the sort. Everything I tried opened smoothly, with only a tiny hint of a wrist flick- which I have been using anyway to open my Benchmade Axis. The Military was especially nice, but still a bit out of my price range. However, I really liked the Endura, and found the model with the right looks for me: a green-handled plain edge in ZDP-189. I've only had it for a couple of hours, but I have yet to find anything I dislike about this knife: it's very sharp, opens smoothly, has good ergonomics, was reasonably priced at $80 - 20%, and looks good, something that Spydercos tend to fail at.
My name is Preston Parham, and I'm a Spyderco convert.
Now it's time to save up to get a Military...
(I also picked up a Byrd Finch and smaller Buck Bucklite, both for under $10)
