Posted a thread looking for somewhere to download the Sharpmaker video .....

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=363527&highlight=sharpmaker

Completely out of the blue, got an email from Joyce Laituri from Spyderco saying they would ship out their latest DVD ..... for free !

Arrived today together with their 2005 Catalogue and Sharpmaker Booklet - with a postage cost of $8 (not including price of the Jiffy Envelope and the DVD) .....

Is there any other company on earth who would do anything similar ...... NO !

Thanks again Joyce :)

Hmmm...they were also nice enough to send me an extra Sharpmaker booklet when I lost mine....

Would be nice if the booklet was available as pdf though....

Years ago I had to use Spydercos CS and was quite impressed. Recently however I emailed a request for an estimate on a knife I need shaped up. I was quite specific with what I needed so I could send a check with it. What I got in reply was the standard Thanks for choosing Spyderco, Our warranty covers defects in materials blah blah blah...They did give some estimates on stuff I did not need and did not ask about...total was about 70 dollars plus shipping.

Very good quality knives, just doesn't do much for me to receive form-letter replies that don't relate to my question.

sak collector, did you post your problem on the Spydie forum? This may be a glitch Sal would want to take care of.

I had such a good experience with Spyderco in general and with the Spyderco CS in particular, that I'm sure any problem you have it can be solved. An inquiry on their forum would be welcome as they are pretty overcrowded at the office but they check the Forum(s) regularily, mostly in their spare time. You can get even more "to the point" replies and advices at the Forums.

No I did not. Probably should have though, guess I was just in a snit :foot:

Probably better to post it there than here...aside from that little issue, I have always been happy with Spyderco and the service.

sak collector,
I'm very active on our site, so please feel free to drop by if you run in to any other issues. If you still need information please feel free to contact me direct. I'm in the Sales Dept. (Wholesale), but I'd be happy to insure that you get the info you need.

I left a random message on the CS line at Spyderco a whiel back, my dad had lost a clip screw on a Harpy I gave him years back, gave my name, number and addy, told them I had a screw loose (how could I not?) and never got a call back. Didn't get around to trying again to get a human, just spaced on it, but 4 days later a little manila envelope showed up with a half dozen screws in it.....

Spyderco just plain gets it done, on all levels. One of the great American companies, imo.
