So, I had some issues with my Military and posted a previous thread on the issues I had (blade not centered).

Anyway I gave Spyderco a call and spoke to a person in the warranty and repair department and she was awesome. First off they offered to give me free scale screws to replace the ones I personally stripped awhile ago. And she also gave me detailed instruction in the two methods of centering a blade which I will describe below for anyone who is interested.

#1 issue: The pocket clip screws are interfering with a washer causing an off centered blade.

Fix: shorten the screws with a dremel. (this sounds stupid but I honestly didn't know this was the cause of the problem until I removed the clip)

#2 issue: The scale screw closest to the pivot. you can adjust this screw from both sides of the scale. If you loosen both, and then tighten one a little bit, then the other-side a little bit you will notice the blade moves immediately in terms of centering. After a few minutes you can center the blade.

hopes this helps guys. Basically the point of this post was to say how good the customer support is for Spyderco. And no I don't remember her name but she was awesome

thanks guys

I just contacted Spyderco by email with the same issue. I received an email back from Charlynn the same day (today) regarding my problems and asking for a mailing address so she could send me some extra scale screws to replace ones that were stripped.

She said that the fix for the centering problem was simple if you knew how. She hasn't yet sent me the instructions posted above but I'm sure she will tomorrow. Although I don't really need them now that eah990 has posted them.

+1 for Spyderco customer service.

to give you a little more detail regarding my experience. If you follow these two methods you will be able to fix the issue, how ever there is a third dimension. By third dimension, I mean just because your blade is centered doesn't mean the issue is fixed. If you notice when you push your blade towards one scale or the other, it will be easy to push your blade one way and not the other. Ideally your blade shouldn't touch either scale upon pressure, this is where adjusting the scale screw nearest the pivot comes into play. Play with it, and if you get it right you will achieve a balance which will make you happy. Good Fiddling
