Spyderco Damascus

The steel on spyderco damascus knives are a laminate, meaning 2 outer layers of the damascus with a core steel inside. In your instance the core steel is VG-10 of which, many threads can be found on it. I personally have not owned a VG-10 steel knife so I can't comment on its edge retention. I would suspect its around the 154cm area.

Bladenoobie1 hit this one on the head. It is VG10 at it's core so it will perform just like VG10 performs at whatever hardness it's run at. I've found that I like Spyderco's VG10 enough to carry it more than any other steel in my Endura FFG. I do have ZDP Enduras in all the versions and It's a great high performance steel. Super blue is more my speed and I do like it a great deal yet I find that VG10 Endura in my pocket in addition to the Super blue version , not instead of it.

Part habit, part just liking the steel, it's performance and ease of sharpening and maintenance.
