Hey guys,

I have a Delica 1 (I don't know if that's the name for it... all I know that it's the first version made), and I have a friend that wants to trade his Manix 2 for it. They are both brand new, never used. If I trade would I be getting the better deal? I don't know how rare or expensive the Delica 1's are right now. I'm just looking for your guys' opinion on the trade. (I paid 100 dollars for my delica, and he paid 90 for his manix...)

Do you collect or use your knives? If you just collect then I would keep the delica. If you will use it I would do the trade. I should note I'm not a big fan of the delica and love the CBBL on the manix. Also what version of the manix are we talking? G10 or light weight?

You can always buy a Manix 2.

Why trade?

I'd keep my Delica and buy a Manix 2 if I wanted one.

They are close to the same value on the used market but the M2 would sell for a little bit more. I have a Delica and I have a M2, both bought used, the Delica cost 2/3 what the M2 cost. The bigger question is which one do you like better? The M2 has a longer and thicker blade, and is much heavier overall. I carry my Delica as a second knife because it is relatively small, but I much prefer a slightly larger folder. Something like a Delica can never come close to the smoothness of the M2 operation.

I'd take the Manix 2. I had a few original Delicas (BNIB) and didn't really get that much for them when I sold them 2-3 years ago. A lot of guys don't dig the plastic clips (unless you're strictly a collector).
