Spyderco Delica 4 or Salt 1

Hello all,

I've been searching for my first EDC knife and I have been trying to decide on whether to purchase a benchmade mini Griptilian or a Delica 4. I can't make up my mind so I plan on purchasing both (well sort of). So I am definitely commited to purchase the mini Grip but the Delica 4 I'm having doubts on.

I've been doing some research and the Spyderco Salt 1 seems very comparable to the Delica except for the type of steel. Although I don't frequent the ocean that often I feel the anti rust qualities of the H1 steel is very desirable.
So is the VG10 of the Delica a better steel when it comes to edge retention, strenght, ease of sharpening, etc?
Since this will be an EDC does the VG10 steel offer a better tradeoff to the
H1's anti rust qualities?
I'm not too concerned that the Salt 1 does not have steel liners or the handles can not be removed unlike the Delica 4, actually the Salt 1 is a little bit lighter in weight which is a plus.

I know many EDC the Delica 4 but I'm wondering if the Salt 1 is popular for an EDC role, and if not, why?

Thanks for any responses.

I like the Delica better. I like liners and tip-down carry. VG-10 holds an edge better than H1. And I like the pointier tip of the Delica rather than the blunt safety tip of the Salts.

That's not to say that the Salt isn't as good or better or worse of an EDC.

VG-10 is no slouch in the corrosion resistance department either. also have you seen the new full flat ground delicas that are going to come out? That slicing power and the beautiful coloration is too much to pass up! I can't wait for them to come out. :D

I have an H1 and it's awesome knowing that it is EXTREMELY corrosion resistant... so if you need to get it wet, or even around salt water it will have no problem. It's my go-to knife when I know I will be facing any corrosion issues. Hope this helps...

They're comparable in each steel's specialty. Meaning, VG10 is not rust proof but is very rust resistant and H1 isn't quite at hard as VG10 but with work hardening can come very close.
