Hey all, I am trying to make a decision about what to do with this knife but I will share a little background info. I am also typing this on a phone....
Anyway, at the school I go to I have two friends on the maintenence team. Jason, and Clay. I have known Jasons twin brother James from the diesel classes I used to take. I found out they both collected Kershaws and made knives. One day I was helping Jason cut some stuff because I had jot had the chance to sharpen his speedbump yet, well, clay walked up and we were introduced. Clay is a knife and bow maker in his spare time and also does leather and woodworking. We start chatting knives and he pulls out a used delica 4 that he had had for 3 years at the time (6 years ago now) and we start chatting knives and I ended up showing him my ZT300 I was carrying. He fell in love but later decided he liked the 0200 a bit better. So time rolls on and everything is good. About 2 weeks back clay was at jasons house and gives me a call, he can't get his delica sharp on his belts so I grab my paperwheels and head to see what the problem is. Well, it turns out the knife was used so much he had worked the blade up to the grind and there wasn't a damn thing I could do to help him... I was sad to say the least. He made a joke about retiring it and told me he was ready to try the 200. (So I sent him to kershawguy) Time fast forwards to yesterday and he tells me the ZT was here so I run to his place to check out the new toy. It was sweet to say the least... I like it better than my 300... But I notice his spyderco wasn't on his side and he was making a huge retention sheath for his new toy. I asked him where the trusty spydie is and he reaches into his pocket, and hands me his retention sheath with the delica inside.
I was shocked that he just gave his trusty companion to me, he knew I had delicas and wanted it to go to someone who would enjoy it and put it to use. Here is the thing though, it will not fit on my belt loop and my phone goes where it is intended to be carried so I wanted to find a neat way to give it back to him in a cool way. I thought about tossing one of my delicas in there but they both have sentimental value.
See the problem? Old knife is left.
How about now?
The blade is all but used up...
So, should I ......
Give him one of my knives?
Buy a new belt and enjoy the gift?
Or throw a new blade in the old girl and give it back to the man who wielded her for all these years?
Thoughts and comments are appreciated.
