Spyderco Delica Missing - Not feeling Well.

So earlier today the wife and I had some errands to do, some shopping and maybe get some lunch. As always, I do a gear check (touching belt and pockets) as I'm going out the door to make sure I have what I want and need on my person. wallet, light, keys, knife, gun (if I decide to carry that day) and so on. I had the delica in my right front pocket as always and felt it 2 times on the way to the car that my wife already pulled out of the garage.

Well, after several stores we decided to have lunch at Wendy's, we both love the chicken sandwich there. while at the counter waiting for the food several men came in behind us and where just a bit too loud in public for my taste. as always I do another gear check and had my hand on the knife in my pocket and was making sure it was there for me. and it was. :D

We eat, we leave and go to the last store and while standing there at the door watching the shoppers (I love people watching) I stick my hand in the pocket and NO KNIFE!

I HATE MY OWN A$$!!!

I back tracked all the way to the Wendy's where I know I had it last and nothing. I have to say that is such a sick feeling, worse than when I lost my wallet some years ago. checked everywhere, checked the car 3 times and still nothing. I actually felt sick to my stomach.

On the lighter side. I have been thinking of retiring the Delica and start carrying the Izula as my EDC but I really loved that damn Delica so i was putting it off. not anymore. :)

Theres just something extra painful about losing a knife. For example back when you lost your wallet it probably took more time and money to replace it and its contents, but it still sucks worse to lose the delica. I've been there, hate that sick feeling you get when your hand goes to the pocket and theres no knife. Heres wishing you and your izula many happy years of EDC :p

Yeah, although a pain in the ars and a little expensive and time consuming it didn't feel as bad as that feeling I got when I reached in the pocket and felt nada.

TKAZ, I can relate something similar happened to me and a Gayle Bradley. I too felt sick, I looked all over the place, in my car, at my house, the back yard, porch/patio, driveway. I found my knife was stuck in between the cushions of a friends couch the next day.
Take comfort in knowing it can easily be replaced, at least it wasn't a CRK/Strider/Hinderer. That would have really broken my spirit.

I lost a Delica a couple months ago. It was the first Spyderco I ever bought, so it sucked.

I learned my lesson, though: IWB carry now. Always. No more of that front pocket bullshit!

What is IWB, and how can you lose a knife if it is on a clip. No offense, I am a newbie and carry mine in my front pocket but on the clip.

Inside the waistband. A clipped knife is easily lost. It doesn't take much for it to grab on something while you're walking and have it yanked out of your pocket. In my case, I was simply running when I lost it.

If you carry it in your waistband, I can't imagine how you'd lose it. It would take a very unfortunate chance for that to happen. The clip is protected by the belt, so it resists getting snagged onto something as well as getting scratched.

Feel for you. I felt exactly the same when I lost my ZDP FRN Stretch. Only it hurt less.

It really wasn't expensive I had just really got comfortable with that Delica. well, nonetheless I'm going to treat myself to a new small folder but I'm also going to start carrying the Izula for EDC. As bad as that feeling was, thank god it wasn't some expensive custom made job. now that would have been bad.

Knives price is hardly the value of knife, sorry to hear your loss! *starts looking worrisomely* All this losing knives and such... Now I'm getting paranoid... I need to get some sheaths for knives!!

Especially for my Custom Papi and Queen Barlow when they arrive...

Thanks for the more explicit reply. I understand now. Being new at this it helps to get these tips.

Lost my first Delica down an elevator shaft when the molded clip caught on a cart i was moving and pulled it from my pocket. it went through the 2 inch crack between the elevator and landing.

My brand-new, freshly-unwrapped small Sebenza is at the bottom of a major lake here in Va as of last weekend. Had it clipped to my lifevest the way I'd done a thousand times before while riding a jetski. Only lost a knife one other time in my entire life.

Sometimes stuff happens.

Professor.
