i dont understand how crkt can build such a fine knife as the crawford kasper folder (built really tough) and put a 420j2 blade on it and spyderco can build a less expensive knife (delica) with vg-10 blade which is highly superior steel but feels a bit flimsier than the crkt (very small blade play) but goleeee is it sharp...any feedback would be appreciated...p

I don't understand what you have trouble grasping. CRKT puts lots of money into handles. Spyderco puts almost all their money into the blades. It's just more expensive to make solid handle with liners and LAWKS technology than VG10 blade.
It seems to make perfect sense. You can pay for a blade. You can pay for a handle. Or you can pay twice as much and get a Benchmade or higher end Spyderco.

I'm inclined to say that the CRKT C/K is the Hummer 2 of the knife world...it only looks tough. I used to recommend this knife very highly - until it became the first quality folder I've ever handled that fails spinewhack tests (with the LAWKS disengaged). I don't trust that flimsy LAWKS and I don't know if I remembered to engage it when the sh*t hits the fan, so I intentionally leave it off for testing purposes.
Too bad, it's an awesome design. It's still OK if you see it strictly as a utility knife and trust the LAWKS to withstand major lateral stress.
