Anyone see it Sunday night? Pretty clear and prolonged blade shot of a Spyderco knife, but the handle wasn't real clear. I think it was a Calypso Jr, it was in the hands of actor Danny Trejo (wildly tatooed hispanic dude), who has handled throwing knives in other movies, (like Desperado) and has also been in Spy Kids and From Dusk Till Dawn.

Looked like the full serrated edge version.

I thought it was a Military. The blade was too big for a CJ.

I saw this too. It was a Spyderco Military combo edge black blade.

I think it's a great show. Of course I watch it more for Eva Longoria ;).

Yeah I have an autographed 8x10 of Eva L. in my offfice...way better looking than Danny Trejo.
He was also one mean dude in ConAir

Danny Trejo is so good at playing a mean dude, because he was a real mean dude. Did a stint in San Quentin for armed robbery, got into boxing and won a couple of prison titles; cleaned up his act when he got out, then met an actor who got him cast as an extra on a prison flick, where he got noticed by the director. He's made a boatload of movies since then, usually four or five a year.

Danny Trejo is the real deal, but from what you guys are saying having that knife on that show is actually gonna end up being a tragedy for us. Its bad enough most people automatically think weapon when they see a knife, now they need it reaffirmed on network tv during primtime. And whats worse is that the @#$@#$# director chose to use a decent folder over some POS meaning that now other spydies are gonna be cast in the same light.

Aside from you guys the majority of viewers of that show are probably 30-50 year old suburban women who can relate to the characters. Meaning the next time June Cleaver sees you at the market using your cricket to open something up, she's gonna place you right up there with Danny.

If the blade had been used in an outdoorsy show or as a rescue tool that would be fine because its showing the blade as being a tool versus a weapon.

However if Trejo ever sticks someone on the show don't tell me I didn't warn you when the collective Oprah loving-Gap wearing-starbucks coffee drinking while they drop off their kids at soccer practice in their brand new volvo-sheeple start baaaaing. :grumpy:

I don't think it will happen. He is kind of a "medicine man" or 'shaman' character in the show and only has a bit part. I doubt he'll be in it that much to be honest.

I see "Spyderco. When you absolutely must cut everything in the room, accept no substitutes." in the future.

Er, ParaMilitary by the way. And he cut an apple - oooh, stop the horror!!! - what most knives are used for.

RLR

I will bet anyone here that the knife is a Military and not a Para. It was too long for the Para.

I'd bet one of my knives on this one.

It was for sure a Military. There is a video clip of it over at the Spyderco forum where you can pause with windows media player. It is very clearly a liner lock that is visible in one clip. In the next where he peels an apple it is clearly a combo edge Millie and it may be a black bladed one. That is hard to tell though.
