Hi Guys. I recently acquired a Spyderco Delica in G-2. I am wondering if this is what's called the fat clip kind or the thin clip kind. What is the real difference?

What's G2??

Are you talking about the normal clip and wire clips? If so, wire clips conceal more when clipped, and normal clips conceal not as good.

Mmmmmm, I think he has an older G2 blade steel Delica with the integrated FRN clip.

The earliest Delica had a narrow molded clip, around 1/4 to 3/8" wide. Due to frequent breakage, the clip was changed to approximately 1/2" wide before the knife was completely redesigned with a metal clip.

G-2 is another name for GIN-1, the standard steel for Spyderco for many years.

The Sportmans near my house sells them with the FRN clips, are they delica 3s? Or are some delica 4s with the frn clip?

The first generation Delica is the only one with a molded FRN clip, although there are a number of variations within that generation. I recall Sal Glesser posting that the Delica and Endura molds went through five changes before the switch to a metal clip. For the record, molded FRN clip is first generation, stainless handle with two position clip is second generation, FRN handle with barrel bolt steel clip is third generation and the current fourth generation has a four-way three screw clip. There are many other differences, but those are the easiest way to tell them apart.

Yes.
The D4 got steel clip.
The Frn clips were on much older models.
Even Salt which share the same handles got metallic clips (titanium for the Salt).

cheers
