Spyderco dive knife

To which knife are you referring? All of the Salt series are rustproof.

I don't dive and haven't used one, but the Aqua Salt has gotten very good reviews. Do a google search, I'm sure you can find some reviews online. You can't go wrong with Spyderco.

Also, I know that there are some places that don't allow dive knives. I've read that some scuba divers conceal a Pacific Salt or Salt 1 in their BCD's in such places.

I found this one link regarding the Aqua Salt, but I know I've seen others in the past.

I don't dive, but a friend of mine whom I do saltwater fishing with carries a Aqua Salt on his boat for cleaning fish (mostly Salmon) and other uses on the Ocean.

It's a good quality knife, underated IMO, and good in a marine environment.

I do dive and am curious to what location/conditions you will be diving?

I scuba dive off the coast of southern CA..ie cold and sometimes rough water. Although I feel that this knife would definitely be alot more than you need. ALTHOUGH it doesn't hurt to be fully prepared and in that case it would make a good knife to have as perhaps a secondary blade while diving. I would recommend getting a smaller plain edge knife as a primary because this will be most useful for cutting through tangled kelp or roots that may snag equipment such has your octopus hoses or BC. This will be your most common issue while diving.

I live in KS now so trips to bahamas etc then I am moving to france so off the coast to france

I don't know anything about the waters of France, but I think the info I stated before would suffice in any given situation.

You can't go wrong with a nice plain edge H1 spyderco for leisurely diving, and the Caspian Salt for a 2nd blade, or for more rigorous dive trips, such as wreck diving or oil rig diving.

The caspians are great H-1 dive knives.
The only thing is that I know the older models had the steel screws which rusted in salt water. But I think it has been fixed.
Just make sure you buy the newer version, it has the FRN handl you see in the catalog picture, rather than the old micarta handle (IIRC)
