I work in a warehouse and I cut a wide variety of materials daily. Mostly cardboard, waxed cardboard, kraft paper, pallet strapping and plastic shrink wrap. I got this Dodo recently and it has performed better than anticipated.

I used it for about a week with the factory edge and it could easily cut through 30 sheets of 40# kraft paper. Cardboard, strapping and shrink wrap were cut effortlessly. This weekend I stopped by the Spyderco outlet after noticing that a tiny piece of the tip had chipped off. I got the edge resharpened and tried it out at work today. I was able to cut through 40 sheets of kraft paper easily. When using a utility razor in the past 20 sheets was the maximum.

The handle is a very grippy textured G10 that works well when wet. The handle provides plenty of grip for putting leverage on the blade. The downturned point can be used for delicate work with an index finger on the spine.

I find the ball lock to be very secure and easy to use. It is not as quick as a linerlock or lock back, but it seems to work well.

I will have to see how long the edge holds up and can give an update at that time.

Unfortunately this model is no longer made, which I find unfortunate. Well, I guess since the Dodo is extinct it is only fitting. :D

Nice pictures!

I have a question; when cutting the plastic shrink wrap do you notice that the serrated edge creates debris (small pieces of plastic wrap) that a plain edge blade does not?

Not at all. Usually i am removing fully wrapped pallets that are 6 feet high. it cuts from top to bottom with minimal pressure.

I have had this happen with serrated edges in the past, but the blades used were not as sharp as this. Also the majority of the tip is unserrated and that is all that is needed to cut the wrap.

I've had one for about 2 or so years. Great small knife, its cut just about everything...cardboard, paper, fiberglass insulation, the cotton duc covering on the fiberglass, wire stripping. Very comfortable handle and it doesn't freek people out too much. I've got eh plain edge version.

I've got a plain-edge and it makes a fine knife for the typical office/warehouse cutting chores.
