I've been using sandpaper on glass now for my 2 Scandi's. Was just wonder if anyone uses a Doublestuff for their Scandi's or what is thought of using one on them. I'm trying to find a cheap, portable system for in the woods. I thought I found that with my DMT aligner kit, but the diamonds tear the carp out of the big bevel. I was just using them freehand. I get sharp knives from the Sharpmaker and the doublestuff is the same stuff, just more of a small freehand stone.

I at one time had the set of spyderco bench stones, they never seemed to work very well with the large bevel, contact to the bevel was spotty. Have you thought about gluing sandpaper to a paint stick?

I'm going to try the paint stick idea. I grabbed some 5 gal sticks from work yesterday. They are usually flatter and straighter than gallon paddles. So it sounds like the Doublestuff is not good just because of the flatness on that stone then. What about the small Fallkniven stones then? Fine diamond on one side and ceramic on the other. Are they better quality?
