Hey guys new here and I like the dragonfly 2 however I don't know to get H1 or VG-10 also I don't know plain edge or serrated? Any help would be great and lastly has anyone had issues with the wire clip? I've heard some negatives

Thanks a lot

I just got a Dragonfly a couple days ago. For me the best configuration was plain edge in VG-10. I picked VG-10 because I figured it was unlikely to be exposed to salt water, kept in a damp environment (say a kayak PFD pocket for example), etc... I went plain edge because I was looking for a knife to handle day in day out cutting tasks. Had I been looking for something to mainly cut rope or some other fibrous material I probably would have gone Spider Edge.

What kind of tasks and environment do you want the knife to handle?

VG-10 is a very SS in its own right, just not impervious like H1. With that small of a knife, I would go plain edge personally. The wire clip is my absolute favorite clip offered by any manufacture. I am sure the one on the Dragonfly is smaller than the Sage series and Caly series, but probably just as good. The wire clip on my Junior was slightly stiffer than my Sage's, but has broken in a bit. I imagine the Dragonfly clip might be a little stiff due to its smaller size. Also, don't discount the ZDP-189 version. That is a premium Japanese steel that is not technically a SS, but is not bad in the rust category. It holds its edge longer than VG-10, and H1.

Vg10 holds a decent edge and is extremely easy to sharpen. I own the g10 vg10 plain edge and vg10 frn spyderedge dragonfly and love them both. It's all about your preference and if you have a sharpening set up to sharpen serrated edges or just plain edge.

Thanks for all the replies guys. I'm just using the knife for very basic everyday tasks

Then I agree with nccole. You should probably opt for the D'fly 2 in plain edge. The VG10 model is the cheapest available and the steel is a great EDC steel (takes a sharp edge, easy to sharpen and corrosion resistant). The ZDP 189 model is the most expensive but the steel is incredibly wear resistant and takes a great edge (just harder to sharpen and not as corrosion resistant).

I have a vg-10 one in a serrated edge. I took off the clip and wear it loose in my pocket. I also carry a small or mid sized edc, and use the Dfly for zipties, plastic clamshells and other stuff that a polished edge sort of slides on. Sometimes you need something toothy, and it's so light and slim, you can carry one of each!.

id get vg10 if your going plain edge, or h1 if your going with serrated.

personally id get the serrated h1 dfly

I say plain edge and VG-10 for all around EDC. A plain blade can handle the jobs a serrated blade can and works for the jobs that a serrated edge would just outright not work for.
VG-10 is an excellent steel for EDC - Pretty corrosion resistant - Takes a sharp keen edge - Sharpens easily - Holds its edge very well.

I wouldn't get H1 unless I wanted to be around salt water all of the time.

For all around EDC - VG-10 Plain Edge can't be beat in my opinion.

If you did want to step up to ZDP-189 that'd be a good choice too, holds a great edge, takes a sharp keen edge, doesn't rust extremely easy - maybe patina, I'd just wipe it off after use on food or water or whatever and no worries.

The wire clips are great for deep carry and not having your knife visible to the world. With it being wire and deep carry the clip also isn't as visible. It also makes sliding the knife in and out of the pocket simple while having enough tension not to slide around.

Get it lol.
