I have an itch for this knife. It just looks so good but it seems so....tiny. I usually like larger knives (like 3.5-4", sometimes even edc 5" blades) so I'm worried I'll regret it. Anybody owned or handled one?

I have one and carried it exclusively for a year. It's very small in hand and pocket. But the ergonomics are so good that you can get a really good grip on it. The knife did just about anything I asked of it that wasn't more than I should be doing with a folder anyways. If someone asked me what Spyderco or not-crap knife to start with but didn't want a larger blade, I'd recommend the Dragonfly every time. Note: I ponied up for the ZDP-189 version. The ergos are great on all of them, and none of them are bad, but the good steel is worth it.

Three finger grip for a large/xtra large style glove if that helps.

I like mine, I added a short lanyard for a little extra grip length. Probably a bit small for anything serious, but for most around the house or office stuff it works well. Non intimidating looking if that is a concern for you. That's a delica 4 in the background for size comparison.

I have the zdp-189 version. Love it. It is a smaller knife but its been dubbed a "little big knife" on account of it's capabilities. Considering that you like much bigger knives, this would be a great secondary for you or at the very least, a great option to throw in your rotation for that one or two days a month you just want to go very light. I too carry 3.5 inch or bigger main edc but some days I don't mind leaving the house with the the d'fly. It's an awesome k ife.
One more thing, they often pop up in the exchange for great prives (just saw one yesterday) if youd rather go that route and not suffer too much buyers remorse

Got the ZDP189 version, great little knife. You won't regret getting a DF. I usually carry something larger too, DF much easier to use in public without raising eyebrows while still remaining a very capable knife, either by itself or as a secondary, even on a keychain.

I own a few of them. A good knife, but not my favorite. I tend to like a little bit longer knife so there is more ballast in the pocket. The Dragonfly is so short that I subjectively feel - perhaps wrongly - that it is more likely to fall out of the pocket. That point aside, for me its enough blade for just about any EDC task.

It is small you will think so when you get it. It handles much larger and is handy for travel and makes a great light weight option to throw in your pack for hiking, biking, skiing etc. I have the H1 version which I love because I don't have to worry about it.

It's very small and also very thin. An oddball for me, in between a keychain knife and small knife. Personally I prefer Delica size but the Dragonfly is a ultralight EDC if you want featherweight and capable.

I was thinking it'd be a great secondary for small knife tasks that are cumbersome with larger blade, zip ties, detail work, stuff like that. Not really concerned about public display, if a delica is suited better i'd spring for it instead. I do have giant hands. Even a blur makes for a 3.5 finger grip for me. Would be my first spyderco. Anyone willing to take a pic holding it in their hand?

I picked up the DF Salt just to try out. I never thought it would replace a primary knife in pocket, and still don't. But it is a great secondary blade. With the basic FRN handles, it's so light I forget I even have it sometimes. It's the perfect blade for things you don't really want to use the $300 knife in the other pocket on. ;)

I don't have a pic already at hand. But here is one with the Domino and a 1911 for size comparison. After a couple of weeks carrying it with my Blue Domino, I actually grabbed a new ZT 0808 for the other pocket today. It's a weeee bit heavier than the Dragonfly.

Unless someone beats me to it, I'll post a few later tonight. Usually don't get in till pretty late.

The Dragonfly is the next step smaller than the Delica.

If you're finding the Blur a bit on the small size, you definitely will have problems with the DF. Essentially, it'd be a keychain knife for you.

Here's a lineup of some of my Spydies, largest to smallest, Endura, PM2, Native LW, Native, Salt (Delica), Dragonfly.

I have small hands, and I think it's a very small knife.

IMO, this is where you get a majority of the grip - the last 2-3 fingers. Thumb and index are more for control it seems.

Another comparison.

I've got XL hands and the DF was just too small, Delica as well. Small handles are the issue.
Maybe a step up in size if you're looking for a Spyderco with a somewhat larger grip. The Native 5 fits me better and honestly I'm happier with S35VN.
