Just wanted to say that I love my new dragonfly! I've never experienced these nishijin scales before.

They are nice and smooth and look almost 3d. I can't stop staring at it! The zdp is super sharp. The action is a pretty tight but with a twist of the pivot screw and some wear in time, I hope it will become perfect.
It really is a little big knife. My hand fits around this little guy perfectly. Very comfortable.
I just wish I saw a close up pic of these scales before. I never new how cool they looked. Now I'm going to think about getting the R nishijin.

Congrats, David!:cool: The Nishijin scales are super-cool and very difficult to photograph. I highly recommend the R model. It's like a big fancy Delica 4 with a choil...

The action is a pretty tight but with a twist of the pivot screw and some wear in time, I hope it will become perfect.

On mine, loosing the pivot screw did nothing. The screw was halfway off the scales and the action felt the same. After 3 days of working the action it has seemed to wear in though.

ZDP on mine is sharp but came with rust/staining out of the box, especially in the choil and spine jimping. Will need to figure out a way to get into those crevices.

Also need to look into other clip options. Hopefully one that obscures the scale less and rides lower. Ones ones I know of are the Spyderco Balance clip, and the STR Lowrider.

How do the scales feel? They look amazing!

I've been considering purchasing a Spydie Cricket as a small utility knife.

The scales feel really nice. No grippyness just shinny and smooth. I like to have different knives in different materials so this was a must buy for me.

The one near the pivot. It's what the lock bar pivots on.

I just tried loosening it and it made no difference. I think I'll just have to accept that backlock knives are no where near as free moving as other locks.

I did notice that even when tightened fully in, the lock bar screw is much more proud of the scale than the othersame size screw. Is this the same on yours?

All the, screws seem to be the same. But the back locks on all my knives make for stiffer action. Nothing like my Sage 1, that thing Flys open in comparison.
I can barely do the middle finger flick on the back lock but with liner locks it's really easy.
I think they, are both fun to play with though.

How does the Nishijin wear? It seems like it would pick up/show a lot of scratches. I have a Lum Chinese with those handles and am conflicted about carrying it. I also know there is a Stetch run in black or blue Nishijin coming up too.

Not sure yet on the durability. I heard they would last but I haven't had it long enough to know for sure.

i have dragonfly 2 with H1 blade, really good fishing knife, compact size and full serration gives bloody amazing ability to hunt lobster and sea urchin

I just picked one of these up and I have to agree on all counts, and one thing in particular. I can't stop staring at it!
