I have recently aquired a new EDC. I swore I'd only carry 1 knife, but this dragunfly is just too handy for grooming and doing those little tasks you need a REALLY sharp knife for, since I can save the edge. Plus it is the same format as my delica, and very light.

I've been carrying it IWB at about 2:00 where it tends to disappear, except the molded clip does not have adjustable tension and so it doesn't grip a lot of my clothes well enough for it to be really secure.

How can I modify it, or can you suggest another similar knife?

If it has a removable clip, you can take it off and then bend it down. I bent my 806 clip in a vice and it is now very tight, which I like, it's never coming unclipped by accident. It also makes a loud SNAP when I pull it out of my pocket.

Wow I didn't know there was a Dragonfly II. I don't think I'd go for that though because I'm a weight freak. At this point I'm considering finding a small clip like the one off the dragonfly II, grinding the molded clamp off my dragonfly, and fitting it.

While I'm complaining, I want one in VG-10, does Spyderco make such an animal?

I don't think this would work because all you have to anchor the screws into is the FRN. They'd pull right out.

If you wan't VG-10 and you're not limited to a 2 and 1/2 inch blade, I'd look at the Calypso, Jr., which has the same blade shape and flat grind as the Dragonfly, a good steel clip, and is lighter than the all stainless Dragonfly II.

I have both, and although the Dragonfly is a great little knife, the Calypso, Jr. beats it hands down -- more useful size, better grip, and better steel. The price is about the same (about $40 or so at online dealers).

Dude, nooo! the calypso jr is tip down. :(

Also, why does knifeworks list the CF delica as heavier than the frn delica?

We anchor screws into old FRN knives all of the time. Shouldn't be a problem. Purchase a short clip like the CoPilot clip from SFO (Spyderco Factory outlet) as a clip kit. I think they're about $5.00. Ask them for the same screws that we use to screw into FRN.

If you want to replace it with a light wieght Drgonfly with a 3 screw clip check into a carbon fiber Dragonfly.Ebay has them from time to time.

The Dragonfly is a sweet little critter. I need to replace the one I gave to my son. It'd be great to have one in VG-10 or CPMS30V...

I know Sal, there are hundreds of knot-heads like me who seem to think Spyderco would be better off if WE were in charge of your product line. ;)

I REALLY like my S30V Native. Just tonight I went to a buddy's in-law's place to straighten out some computer problems for them and his father in-law showed me his knife collection while we were waiting on a long file download. He handed me a pristine VG-10 Native and I said "oh! I recognize that one!", and popped out my S30V model. The poor mother in-law almost dropped her dentures -- she says "you mean you carry that thing in your pocket??!" (I've removed the clip and I carry it 'loose' in my pocket.) Once and a while I make dumb mistakes like that and upset the sheeple -- guess I need to be more careful.

Shalom,
Mark
