I know everyone thinks highly of the Sharpmaker, but has anyone used the Duckfoot sharpner? I searched for reviews and couldn't find any?

Thanks:confused:

I have one that I have used a bit. Mine did not come with instructions, and I may just be too stupid to figure it out on my own (yeah, right), but I found it very awkward to use...on plain edges. It works great on serrated blades. It makes an adequate bench stone. It will work well for repairing tips on punches and the like. Just don't ask me to hold the tool steady rocked to the right with my left hand while I hold the knife blade vertical in my right hand and run the right side of the knife edge down the left side of the sharpener, because I am just not that coordinated. And I sure am not coordinated or ambidextrous enough to switch the knife to my left hand and hold the sharpener in my right for every other stroke. I'll stick with freehand on a benchstone for PE.

I have one and have only used it twice Vertically for reprofiling. IMO it is very aggressive so I think it fills that gap where you need something to remove more Metal (that Grey SM Stones just would take too long to accomplish).

I agree that it takes a little coordination but I didn't find it too difficult to use. Like anything else I suspect that with a little practice (and Ref the Instructions) it would work great.

Sal and I talked about this at the last BLADE Show - he stated that he had the concept drawn up years ago but the Technology (to apply the Diamonds to the Metal surface) was just not available.

If you wish a Sole Source sharpening device I would choose the Spyderco SM over the Duckfoot.
