I have been looking at these for a bit. I almost bought a tenacious but it felt a bit wide to me. I've wanted to get a spyderco for awhile now . I've looked at the manix 2 online but I think the efficient would carry better in pocket due to slimmer profile. I have a griptillian that I use for heavy use . The other would be simply a light use knife such as foodprep and opening packages.i am planning on at least one more knife buy this year, but it will be a budget friendly option, for about 45 bucks I think it might fit perfect for what I would use it for.
Any thoughts or comments or recommendations are greatly appreciated. Love this forum where we can share knowledge and experience with each other

I can’t speak on these particular models since I saved a bit more to purchase Enduras/Delicas.

What I can offer is that the heat treat Spyderco uses pushes the boundaries on 8cr13mov performance. I use this steel on other knives and can say they take an edge very easily, but have attracted rust a little bit faster than I would have liked. It also tends to roll fairly easy when used hard.

I do appreciate how Spyderco designs these models and like you, have seriously considered getting one to try out. In my opinion the price has drifted to a point that I am a little hesitant on buying since we are able to get Ontario Rats in D2 for the same price.

At any rate, if you end up getting one I’d be interested in reading what your thoughts and experiences are after use.

I have a couple of Efficients (and a Delica and four Byrd Meadowlarks)

Like all Spyderco knives, they really aren't for me. It just feels weird to use. The Efficients feel a tad too fat with a body that is a little too short; I have small hands and yet my pinky seems to struggle with finding a place on the Efficient to grip on (I may be holding it wrong though...)

Still, this thing is a beast. I have tons of knives in 8cr13mov and the Efficient pretty much wins them all hands down in cutting performance.

I carry a efficient most every day as my work knife. I prefer it to a delica due to the large cutout for the liner lock. Much easier to work one handed in seated positions than a backlock, for me anyways. It's mostly used to cut plastic straps and cords, and cardboard. 8cr dulls easily, but a few seconds on the worksharp or sharpmaker puts it to right.
I've used a lot of knives for work; delica, mini grip, manix 2 lightweight, kershaw leek, skyline, PM2. The efficient is the only one that I keep coming back to use. Though, I might get a para 3 sometime for comparison.

One tip; take out the useless backspacer. It removes almost half a ounce of metal.
