Spyderco Embassy - Just picked one up

So the long and short of the story is; I was looking through the Spyderco selection on KnifeCenter and for some strange reason, I saw a Spyderco Embassy on there.
I had really been wanting one, but figured I missed the boat and would need to trade for one, or try to find one on forums or other websites.

I was so surprised to see it for sale on KC.com, I went ahead and pulled the trigger on it before I knew what hit me.
To my surprise again, they shipped it out the next day. And now when I go back to that link, it says "Discontinued" and the Embassy doesn't even come up in searches now.

Now that I've received the knife (very fast shipping btw, nice job KnifeCenter), I'm starting to wonder if maybe this badboy is "pre-owned".
KC.com didn't mention anything about it, as far as I recall, said nothing about the knife being anything other than New In Box. However, the aluminum looks like it might have a little wear on it, especially around the deployment button.

I can provide some pics, but I was just wondering, any other Embassy owners out there have any feedback on how the aluminum wears on the silver/gray (or even the black) version of the Embassy?

I'm just trying to piece together all the clues here...

Thanks

Kinda hard to see, but this is a pic of the wavy line pattern that surrounds the deployment button.
There's also some difference in the coloration of the aluminum around the pivot screw. I can try to get a pic of that too.

The pattern of marks around the firing button look to be something that was caused by the tool that milled that cut chattering a bit, rather than something that happened after the knife left Golden. As for the color, hard to say. Since the anodizing is described as clear, it could simply be variations in the color of the aluminum or the degree to which it was polished before it was anodized.

My embassy has that same marking, I took it for a result of the manufacturing process.
As for the coloring, i know my brothers embassy has a much darker color to it than mine. His is almost titanium dark while mine is similar to yours.

I bought my Embassy, and when I received it the finish on the aluminum on the handle looked funny. Like it had the mange. There were distinct light and dark patches in the finish all over the handle. Didn't really hurt function, but still.

I contacted Spyderco, who said I could send it in, but warned me that it was discontinued and I may not get it back - and they had none to replace it with. So I contacted my reseller. He said he didn't have anymore either, but did some looking around and ended up pulling in a favor to get one and replace it. Heck, I had already decided I was keeping it if I had to since they were going the way of the dinosaur.

Maybe I got your old one :p

Yeah, I agree, the rings around the button do look like something from a machining process of some kind.
But the entire frame just has a sort of "worn" look to it. Not really what I'd expect from a "new-in-box" Spyderco, but I'm still very happy to have it.
