My 1st impressions are good, nice knife, fit and finish are good for a knife at this price point.

Video will be up later tonight on my channel.

How does it cut bolts? :p :D

I kid! I kid! :) Nice knife. I never really got into the ZDP models, though I'm sure the steel rocks I felt more comfortable with something a bit softer. That said my Caly3 / CF was a laser cutting just about anything.

I don't want to snap the blade.... LOL ;)

I have to reprofile it before I do my cutting test video.

What angle are you going to take it down to, Ank? I heard someone took it to 17 degrees inclusive. I took mine to 22 degrees and there's quite a noticeable improvement in splitting hairs. :D I only use mine lightly though. Everyday dark food ops, package deanimation, letter breaching entries. etc. :D

I just reprofiled it down to 30 degrees (15 per side).

Wow! nice nice reprofile. I can see my face in that new bevel. The job I did hit just a little above the edges but didn't get the whole bevel. Any performance reports?

I have one too! and Yes they are a great knife for the price, ZDP-189 is scarry sharp!

Not until sometime tomorrow when I do my cardboard cutting test. :D

That will tell me a lot of things.

Jim - Do you find that some steels perform better with a toothy edge rather than a mirror edge?

Nope. :D

Once the edge is polished like I do then it takes a long time for them to lose the edge.

Toothy edges wear faster. ;)

Hi, how much time was spent re-profiling/polishing ? Was it done by hand , edgepro ?

Thanks for your vids

Did it on my Edge Pro and had to go down to the 120 Grit stone to reprofile it, that's Silicone Carbide if that gives you any idea.

It took maybe 10 ~ 15 mins to reprofile it, then another 10 ~ 15 mins to sharpen it.
