For a long time I've been looking at Spyderco, I have several Benchmades, and have really liked several of the knives they offer. Especially the Military. A FFG blade in S30V, what's not to like?

However, as I am a lefty, the fact that it is right hand only has been a deal breaker (unless you can find a left handed version).

When I saw the Endura with its four way tip-up/tip down carry, and especially with the g10 handles and FFG blade, I knew I had to get it.

I'm rather excited for my first Spyderco.

Who else already has this knife and what do you think of it?

I`ve owned it, traded it, and ever since feel the urge to get it again. As an Endura fan, It`s a must have. I couldn`t get over the foliage green g10 (at the time). Now, its kinda grown on me. If it were black G10, it would be a no brainer. But like I said, the foliage green has grown on me.

Oh` and a full flat grind too, yep, its a winner.

Enjoy your new knife!

Dave

I have one. It's a great knife. Reasonably light, plenty strong for utility use, good blade length, full flat grind gives it a fairly thin edge while keeping a fairly thick spine. I personally don't much care for the reinforced point of the fourth generation Enduras and Delicas, but a little grinder time took care of that. VG-10 steel is probably better than most people need. Unfortunately, I'm not most people, so it sees less pocket time than my Krein regrind ZDP Endura.

It's a great knife; probably the best Endura available, IMHO.

The G-10 is great in cold, wet, or hot environs. The 4-way clip makes different carries comfortable. The thicker G-10 handle is great when working with gloves. The flat grind sharpens and slices well. All of that and the same Spyderco quality. A great all around knife.

Hi Cynic,

The model you ordered is a top of the line Endura. You have good taste in knives. Using it will bring out the refinement. Hope you like it. Let us know what you think.

I'm always surprised by how short lived most knife models are in our industry. They come and go rather quickly. The Spyderco Endura and Delica models, on the other hand, have become classics over the years. They sell as well today as they did 10 years ago. That tells me there is something special about them. That something special is value, in my opinion. Excellent knives with excellent fit and finish, excellent materials all at an affordable price. Pretty hard to go wrong. I recommend them every day to customers. I rarely jump into product recommendation threads on the forum but I'm a serious fan of the Spyderco Enduras and Delicas and I own several of them personally.

I have bunches of knives, plenty that cost many times what the Endura does. I have the G-10 one and it is super. Still the white and black frn models are with me more than any other knives. Endura, all the knife I'll ever need.

I have ea FFG G10 Delica. Sweet knife with classic styling. However, I think there are knives that surpass it even though it is a classic. There are knives that have low ride clips, have a slightly longer blade for the same handle size, are lighter, etc., but I am probably going to keep the Delica because I just like it.

I have the G10 Endura. Just took it to a forest fire for two weeks and it performed very well for cutting everything (rope, plastic, wire etc.). This is a well made knife with ample blade length, good steel, a solid handle and good ergonomics.

I bought one of the green G10 Enduras on eBay a while back. It came to me second-hand, so I'm not sure if it'd been 'modified', but the edge grind on the blade was too obtuse for my taste. Wouldn't even shave hair from my arm. I own many Spyderco knives, this is the first one I've had that wouldn't shave. Couldn't strop it sufficiently to make it shave. The edge on the blade looked new & clean (as a 'factory edge' is supposed to), but the bevel was just too obtuse. Not typical of any other Spyderco I've seen.

Long story short, I ended up swapping the FFG blade in this one with the sabre-ground, combo edge blade from one of my 'standard' 4th Gen Enduras (black FRN). Also swapped the locking bars between the two, since the fit between blade & locking bar has to be perfect to make it lock up correctly. The combo edged, sabre ground blade fits like a glove between the full stainless liners of the G10 handle. I noticed that it fits more snugly than the FFG blade too, because the blade is thicker in it's mid-section where it nestles into the handle. All in all, it made a nice package, one which became my most-often-carried EDC.

I'll probably get around to re-grinding the edge bevel on the FFG blade eventually. I'm sure the VG-10 blade will cut like a true razor with a narrower bevel on it.

Ugh...I missed the delivery on Thursday, so now I have to wait until Monday to get the knife.

Anybody else eagerly awaiting the arrival of a knife?

i´m about to order me a endura g-10 ffg too!
the only thing Im thinking about is that I liked the gen 3 tip better, dont like the rounded tip on this one, but I guess that its stronger than the gen 3 tip.

i have a couple of enduras and i would like the reinforced tip reground does anyone know of any knifemaker doing this kind of work

Tom Krein is an absolute wizard with a grinder. If it can be done, he can do it for you. I've reshaped points myself, that is easy enough to do, but for changing the main grind, Tom's work make mine look like what it is (the attempt of a clumsy amateur).

Different strokes for different folks I guess. I have the newer Enduras and I love that thick tip. My EDC is the black coated PS, occasionally I EDC the white FRN PE. I think the FFG G10 Enduras are amazing but I doubt I'd ever move up to one. The price increase because of G10 and FFG does not warrant the doubling of price but that's just me (or because I already have a couple of Enduras). It is a high end knife for sure... Most of my knives are Spydercos. Every single one makes a great user and the built quality has been amazing. If someone wanted to start with knives I'd always suggest they start with an Endura/ Delica.

Just got my G10 Endura today!

Its a real nice knife! One thing I wonder though, the opening action isnt so smooth that I thought it would be. is it going to be better over time? It sounded like there where some sand in the pivot when first opened it. I cleaned it with hot water and soap, and then oiled it with nano lube. Its better now, but still isnt that smooth yet.

The G10 handles are very nice, real good traction! And the blade came RAZOR SHARP! Very nice Spyderco!

Congrats on the new knife. I don't know if these knives have washers, which might explain the slower opening. A washer definitely helps moves the blade out.

Not sure what nano lube is but I use Tuf-Glide with some success... or Break Free.

It should smooth out a bit with time I guess. Can the pivot be adjusted?

Funnily enough I have never owned an Endura and have only just recently become curious about them.

I'm looking at an FRN version though. The idea of a hard-using knife that I don't have to baby too much appeals to me.
