Hi All,

My spyderco endura 4 with the stainless handle has a small amount side to side play when the blade is open? Is there anything I can do to eliminate this irritating play? Thanks

If it's side to side tighten the pivot.
If it's vertical send it back.

A tiny bit of up and down movement is normal on a lock back folder like the Endura. Don't panic about that. For side to side, adjust your pivot screw and loc-tite it with blue compound to prevent loosening.

You can access the pivot on a stainless handled knife? I dont own an Endura but I'v never seen an SS spyderco that had screws in it.

to the OP: I'v never tried it but I have herd or others putting pieces of wood on both sides of the knife put the pivot area in a vice and apply LIGHT pressure. this should move the scales down on the pins slightly tightening the knife and removing any side to side (lateral) blade play. Just make sure to use VERY little pressure in the vice.

Hope this helps.

Brad's right. The SS Endura's pivot is pinned (no screws). The clip is the only part of it that's screwed on. I keep wishing Spyderco would change that, and build it just like the FRN & G10 models, with a screwed pivot and removable scales. That being said, I've also heard of using the above-referenced method of GENTLY squeezing in a vice to snug it up. I've never tried that method, but I think that'd be about the only way to do it, short of sending it back to Spyderco to be repaired (that is, IF they'll even be willing to do it).
