Spyderco Endura 4 or Native? I NEED HELP

If you have never held the Native, it is a small knife compared to the Endura 4. A few weeks ago this was my dilemma until a new store opened near me and I got my hand on the Native.

I would have definitely gotten the Native over the Endura 4, but a MAJOR turn-off for me was the the Native's pivot screw is actually a non-adjustable rivet. So if the knife comes loose, you are SOL. I'd get the Endura 4, and I did...

Endura 4 Grey in the middle

The Native Actually Doesn't Come Loose, It's Very Well Held Together. Solid Lock Up, Centered Blade, Great Blade Shape, s30v Steel, And It Fits Amazingly In The Hand, Even Though It's A Little Smaller.

It's Excellent.

The Endura 4 Is Also Excellent, But I Would Get The Native First.

You Will End Up With An Endura 4.

With The Money You'd Save By Not Buying Either, You Could Get A Spyderco Para2 Or A Sage1.

Or You Could Spend Just A Little More And Get A Spyderco Manix 2.

I EDC a native was my utility blade...love it...I beat on it pretty good and never any play....not yet anyway! :afro:

I'm confused... are we talking Endura 4 Vs Native 5?

Cause the Native V has an adjustable pivot & It's CPM-S35VN.

Personally, the Endura is a great knife. But I'd still get the Native first.. although its a bit more money & the spyder hole isn't as accessible, it's super strong, looks great, made in the USA and its a nice size for EDC. It feels super "groovy" in the hand too

No the Native with the frn handle and S30V, but the G-10 one looks really sick.

Personally, I'd pick up the Endura. I actually prefer VG-10 to S30V and I like larger folders. The Native is a very nice little knife, but it's difficult for me to grip 3" folders comfortably, so I go with the ergos that work for me. It occurs to me, however, that if you're torn between these two you might want to split the difference and pick up a Stretch. I really think the Stretch is perhaps the most underrated Spyderco folder in the lineup.

The Native was my first experience with S30V and I fell in love. The pin construction is quite sturdy and the ergos are solid, even using the forward choil. I like the full flat grind on the Endura 4 though. VG-10 is a solid performer as well. You really can't go wrong with either one.

I certainly like my Native. You can't go wrong with either but the Native is super comfie and it's made here in the USA...

I don't see the decision as all that complicated, really. The Native is a shorter saber ground (photos make it appear) blade. The Endura 4 FFG is flat ground, although saber ground options are out there. So it's personal preference.

Either is perfect for the light to moderate usage that most people have. The Endura is a better tactical choice. So, again, personal preference with no objectively "wrong" decision.

pinned construction :thumbdn:, there is a definite possibility your knife will loosen over time with hard use and your only option will be to tighten her back up with a ball peen hammer or vice (more likely irreversibly over tighten her to be honest). also, if you drop her in the sand/get her gunked up with mud or fish guts etc etc you can kiss that action good bye. youll be plagued with a gritty opening you can try to remedy with drenching her with wd40 and blowing her out with an air compressor ;)

i would go with the endura or delica over the native. i never could get used to the ergos on that thing and the useless halfchoil thing... bought and sold 2, gave it a second try and still couldnt love it like everyone else does.

Native 4 was my first Spyderco, and was the gateway into the Endura. I rarely carry the Native now due to the small size, and large clip. Between all your options start getting one, and know that you'll get the others soon after!

I've always been a fan of the Native. The ergos are just spot on. The Endura 4 is also an excellent blade. This is a tough decision, but I'd go with the Native 5 or the FRN Endura 4 if I were you. I prefer the Native shape and handle, but the flat grind of the Endura wins every time over the hollow grind with swedge of the earlier natives. Native 5 though is screw construction with a FFG and decent steel for a reasonable price. Either way though, you're going to end up with an excellent knife, so it's really six of one, half dozen of the other. How much are you looking to spend?

As you can see its been a 50/50 split between the two. Theyre right you're probably going to have both. The stretch is another option to look at tho. Amazing knife and is extremely underrated

I have always loved the look and design of the Native. I have owned a couple and let them go because they just are not comfortable in my hand. I feel like the handle is sawed off.

The Endura, on the other hand, fills my hand and fits like a glove. I guess it is the same reason I opt for a Glock 22 over a Glock 23.

I carry a knife more often than I ware underware. Comfort is a hot button for me. Go with what fits you better.
