Ok, this may be a moot question, but...

I've got some money to spend on a knife for christmas. It's gonna be a light use utility knife, pretty much do-anything-a-little EDC. Now, I'm wondering...what would be better, an Endura or a 940?

The 940 is almost twice as much...but I do love the AXIS lock very much, and I like the shapes/thumbstuds of BMs in general.

Opinions?

Go with the 940,the quality will be remembered long after the cost is forgotten.

It's up to you, but if I lost my endura, I'd buy another one in a heartbeat. 20 years +, and still a rabid following..--Joe

ooh! this makes it kinda tough. i had recently posted a thread about which new EDC rotator i should buy, the 940 or a CUDA Maxx. the Maxx won.

your question is interesting though, because i own a SS Endura already. it's a fantastic knife, with a great edge and shape. fits nicely in my medium-sized hands. a perfect choice for an EDC.

however, i would go for the 940. hopelessly smooth action, and considerably "slimmer" than the Endura (though the Endura sits very well clipped to a pocket). the Osbornes all seem to use terrific steels, and the design seems a bit "flashier" or intense than that of the Endura.

if you can afford it, grab the 940. if you're not terribly concerned either way, though, you'd probably just as well off picking up the Endura and SOG Blink to go with it :D

There is something about a 940 series knife that is...well, just right. As a light-use EDC, it's hard to beat. (I prefer the 941.)

The 94x serie's handle isn't quite for me. I've handled it with my relatively small hands, and I prefer the Endura.

I would suggest the 940 because I owned a 941BC1BL and loved it. The knife was really light, great blade shape, and I've heard 154cm is a pretty good steel too. But I sold it so I could help fund a Sebenza later and it has made all the difference :D
