In a previous thread I asked about the Endura and tip up carrying since I have been used to tip down carries. Since that time I have been carrying a BM Dejavoo tip down and it has been great; very smooth, easy to open/close, just about has me liking liner locks! I digress, the plethora of replies about tip down carry and the perusal of other threads regarding tip up, prompted me to dig out the Endura with the thought of alternating EDC with the Dejavoo but the Endura is so stiff and the hole is, to me, awkward (perhaps because of the stiffness). I like the size and looks of the Endura and it certaqinly appears to be well made but at this point, I am about ready to put it away again and enjoy the Dejavoo. Any input would be appreciated.

Oil it up, adjust the pivot tension, flip it open a few hundred times and put it in your pocket for a week, then decide whether or not to put back in the sock drawer.

I think you just need to clean and adjust your endura they should be smooth as silk .I have one from the early 90s that is still smooth and easy to open.

That is why I asked; will try the suggestions but I certainly didn't have to do any of that with the voo and I haven't had it very long; oand closes smooth as can be, using thumb hole or wrist flick. Wasn't trying to upset Spyderco people; just elling it the way it is.

He may not be able to adjust the pivot tension.

Blow it out with some compressed air, give it a drop of lubricant and open it a few times.

You are right about adjusting the tension; the knife is brand new; should it need all this attention? Also apologize for last post; I am digging some holes to plant a couple of trees and am not as young as I thouoht, so was huffing and puffing! I looked at it and don't see how I can adjust it; maybe the voo spoiled me; I have many, many knives and have EDC Gerbers, Kershaws, Bokers, etc. ; the voo suits me size wise and so far it has done what I asked.

i just picked up an endura/delica package. I really like the knives. they use a torx for adjustment which mine didn't need out of box. mine is the series 4. i am not sure if the older endura's are adjustable? anyhow great value i feel for the cost. i start to realize value more and more when I buy an expensive knife and look at what I get for the money.

The Endura is a plenty smooth knife...the Dejavoo is just one of the smoothest production knives on the market, so it's a tough comparison. :D

Most of this is caused by being a lockback. It creates a ton of resistance to opening/closing. To demonstrate this, hold the lock in with one finger and open it with another and see how it suddenly gets a nice action (when you remove that resistance).

I actually really like the spyderhole, so I wouldn't let lockbacks deter you from their future use (isn't the dejavoo spyderholed anyway?)

Yes the voo is holed; I don't have a problem with the hole at all; just that the action is so stiff. I agree that part of it is the lockback but I have other lockbacks that are not this stiff; guess I'll oil it up and work it but part of the problem is that I keep comparing it to the voo; are we ever satisfied?!?!?

Well, the Voo and Endura are in very different price classes. I don't think it makes sense for a direct comparison.

I'd take the voo any day....hell, even within the endura's price class, even within spyderco, I'd rather have a native or centofante.

only gen 4's are adjustable, all the other gen of enduras are pinned construction...

Hence another reason why the 4th gen. Enduras are the best yet. (among the thicker tip, and 4 way clip)

Borrell, put a little gun oil on it and if it's brand new like you say, work it some and it will start to loosen up.

Ummm...let me think...ah, no. But the DejaVoo is a good start. ;)
