Got the 2007 catalog. Could use some help from those experienced in these knives. Here are my questions:

1.) I have knives in ATS34, S30V, D2 and some others but none in VG-10. How good is this steel?

2.) How does Spyderco Clipits compare to other brand pocket clip knives.

3.) The below knives appeal to me. Any input is appreciated:

a.) C10BK ENDURA4 / C11BK DELICA4 LIGHTWEIGHT

b.) C11 DELICA SS

c.) C81 PARA MILITARY (seems overpriced @ $200...heck I can almost get a
Dozer for that price)

d.) C36 MILITARY MODEL ($200 yikes:confused: )

First of all, Spydercos are some of the best production knives made.

Second, you can find cheaper prices on those knives than in the catalog.

Third, VG10 is good stuff. I like it much better in a cutter than either ATS34 or S30v.

Fourth, the Delica & Endura are great basic knives, very solid tools.

Fifth, if you want to kick it up a notch to a higher-end knife like a Military I suggest you get one of the BG-42 blade steel + carbon fiber handles for around $160. The dealers who advertise on this site can get you one, & they support the site so it's a good deed to buy from them.

There are no advertisers on this site, which is one of the things that makes this place so cool. HOWEVER, there are several dealers and company leaders/owners here. Bladeforum's own knife store is One Stop Knife Shop (1sks.com). There is also New Graham Knives (newgraham.com/). There are several other great dealers on the site, but I don't know much about them, or they don't carry what you want. If you do a google search, you'll find plenty of places that cary Spydercos at reduced prices.

VG10 is a very nice ingot steel and I prefer it over most of the other steels available from Spyderco with the exception of the newer but more expensive ZDP189 blade steel they have introduced not long ago.

Spyderco knives are one of my top choices in folders in many cases and its usually because they push the limits and offer better blade steels than their competitors among other things.

Spyderco makes quality knives. In my experience, the VG-10 is a little better than ATS-34, but I like S30V and D2 better (they hold an edge better). The Delica 4/Endura 4 are very good knives for the money. I have a Paramilitary, and I recommend it highly (as has been stated, you can find it cheaper online - many vendors have it for around $110-115). Of all the many knives from numerous makers that I have, the Para is the easiest for me to open and close, and the handle feels great in my hand.

1.) Takes a finer edge than D2 and ATS34, in many ways easier to deal with than S30V
2.) Very funny, Clipits are THE original folder with a clip, hence the name. They are the real deal.
3.)
a.) Ummh, yes? Very nice knives. Especially in the 4th rendition. No frills, excellent workhorses.
b.) like a.) only stainless handle
c.) Where are you shopping? If you can get a Dozier for $200 you should be able to find a Para for less than $120.
d.) You can even get the CF Mili with BG42, one of the nicest knives ever for $161 and that is most certainly not overpriced.

Thanks for the Input.

the Goddard (burgandy) Spyderco looks about what I am looking for except the blade is about 1/2" longer than I wanted.

Didn't mean to mislead on the Dozier prices...they are $215 directly from Bob Dozier's shop...not $200. IMHO, a great value for the knife cost.

Any additional input is appreciated...
