What do you guys think of the Spyderco fixed blade knives (Forester, Forager, woodlander, dayhiker) They look good. How much $$$ are we talking? Are they worth it ? Will they hold up like a RAT or Ranger or BK&T ?

I got to play with a woodlander (I think it was) at Sportsman's Warehouse last month. Seems very nice. Hefty. Nice attention to detail. I'm not particularly fond of the recurve, but that's a personal preference. The handle reminds me of some of the Buck fixed blades, or maybe alot of different fixed blades.

With Spydercos reputation, (and considering a fixed blade is a chunk of steel with handles on it [intimate details dependant on the manufacturer's reputation for quality]), I can;t see them holding up any less well than the knives you mentioned.....or any fixed blade for that matter. It's much more expensive than a RAT or Ranger, but that's up to the buyer I suppose. I don;t see anything that makes it nearly $80 more expensive than the others.

Maybe being made in VG10 instead of 1095, D2 or 5016 has something to do... I guess! Maybe the sheats are better crafted as well (I haven't handeled any of them I am telling just by the expecs and the looks).
