Spyderco full serrated

No, its not just a thought, its a DARNED good thought! I love PE, and would never be able to get by without them, but BOY OH BOY, SE SPYDERCO's, you dont get much more performance out of a knife as you do with those. The Flat Ground SE ones such as the millie wont have as good edge retention as other grinds but its still guaranteed to work wonderfully and last a life-time! Its a cutter! If your skeptical, save some money and try a SE Endura or Rescue first for apx $50 give or take. Persoanlly, I prefer the waved versions, such a great priced, easy to use, safe, functional knife.

Pics to get ya in the mood :D

There is absolutely nothing wrong with having one of each.
Right now I got a PE MIlitary and a SE Endura on me.
This way you got both covered without having to have
one of them screwy CE knives.:barf:

I am an SE fan also. You can not go wrong carrying both PE and SE. I always have one of each with me. I use the PE more often which is good, cause if I have to spend the day using the SE I am definitely earning my pay.

in rural locations i carry only the p.e. spyderco.in urban locations i carry fully serrated spyderco one exception,if on water i carry fully serrated because our lakes around here are full of trot & set lines for catfish.ongoing nitemare is falling from boat& getting tangled up in heavy nylon cord.

SE is great for cutting rope and more abrasive material. Everyone should give full SE a try! I prefer PE, but I do carry a full SE on the farm. Its just great at cutting harder material IMO and Spyderco does full SE great (Spyderedge oorah!!!!!) I do not like CE. Wish CR would make a full SE one time. Would give that a try!

As others have said, SE works well on fiberous materials such as rope, especially wet poly rope which can be very difficult to cut with a plain edge blade unless you lay the line on a board and chop it. I especially like SE in a hawkbill blade for gardening and landscaping. Nothing beats that combination for getting vines out of chainlink fence (except maybe a flamethrower, but I hear you can get in trouble for that ;)).

I'm not as much of a serration fanatic as some here, but I do always have at least one serrated blade on me. You might be surprised at just how well they work out in the brush.

The Spyderco serrations are okay for tactical use or for cutting through saplings or whatnot, but they're too course for me most of the time. If I'm going to use serrated blades, the Cold Steel serrations are my favorite for most purposes, though rough cutting of wood and other tough materials will chip the teeth on occasion. If you're cutting nylon rope or leather, etc., I want fine serrations. It all depends on what you'll be using the knife for.

CS serrations can still cut most things a plain edge will.

I used both the 5" and 6" Vaqueros everyday for 3 years while working in a scrap yard. They cut through almost anything. The re-curve of that blade, especially the 6", gives you a great deal of cutting power. And yes I did chip some teeth off. It is a small matter to put them back in with a small diamond rod or a Lansky dogbone made for CS serrations. None of my PE blades could compare in that environment.

The one knife I am wanting to buy is a fully serrated Spyderco Police 3. Like the one I already have on top. I think with all that blade and as long and slim the entire knife is, it will look great and perform well.

but how well does it shave?

Who gives a rats butt? I have SE that I can shave with. Why would I take the time to do so when a razor works so much better? Just like I would not take the time to cut heavy, hard, dirty materials with a PE when I can use a SE. If you ever saw me you would realize that I don't care a whole lot about shaving anyway. There are many people like me out there. Unkempt, rarely shaved troglodyte like people who like SE. Must be a primordial throw back to flint knapped knives. So easy a caveman can get it.

but how well does it shave?

Funny you ask -- My Spyderco Atlantic Salt is the only knife I've ever had that I can run along my arm a parallel and have it cut hairs. Everything else needs to be held at an angle to shave.

nothing wrong with SE imho, in fact some knives to me just dont look right PE (the spyderco civvy and police come to mind) but really a PE is better for most stuff, other than for someone who cuts a lotta rope or boxes PE works better, and even then ya could do just fine with a PE.
