Spyderco fun new colors.

My new work Spyderhawk arrived today. With a pack of Scarlet Rit it's no longer yellow.

In it's new neck sheath. I wear a Tyvek suit at work, and getting to pockets in one is not easy. I picked this up off Ebay for $35.

It would be nice to get more color options in the handles, but DIY isn't bad either.

how'd you do that? I know for dying lacrosse head you have to boil the water
you take it apart, boil the water and throw in the handles until you get the color you want

I took it apart first because it's the new screw together version and cleaned it to get the oil off. Then dunked in the hot RIT dye, checking and rinsing now and then until I got the color I wanted. Then a good rinse and soap and water bath and put it all back together.

The thing that I'M interested in is I know that with lacrosse heads I used to use glue guns and I'd make designs in the heads with all different kinds of dye.

Those got mentioned in the discussions on the Spyderco forum. They thought you could do the same with a handle.

Sithus, I'm blaming you now ahead of time. That red looks awesome. Because it looks so awesome, I am going to have to see if I can find a Spyderhawk and try my hand at dying it. Shame on you...

You're welcome. You could go a little smaller and do a Tasman Salt, or any other of the yellow Salt series.
