....or is it long forgotten.

I a well used example and find the Spyderco Goddard shape immensely appealing - are there any other fans of the Goddard out there?

The Goddard would be an excellent knife for a re-issue or sprint run IMO.

Not that that is likely to happen any day soon.

I understand, that Sal and Farid is brewing up a Mini K2 to, so at least there is that to look forward to.
(I bought the mighty K2 as vendors dropped the price recently - it was too good to pass on).

I like the shape and the design. My Goddard with micarta scales was my first Spyderco modern folder, but it didn't have liners and had a lot of friction in the opening/closing, much like a FRN knife. I lost mine in a trade gone bad here on BF trade forums.

I would buy a Goddard sprint or reissue. The VG10 olive version is pretty darn perfect.

Ditto. Big fan of VG10. Never understood those putting it down. I guess because its not the very latest 'super steel.'

My VG10 knives get very sharp with minimum time spent sharpening them and keep adequately sharp. If that aint a good thing in a knife(-steel), i dont know what is.

One of my favorite fixed blade knives, the Street Beat, is in VG10. It does stellar duty - also in the kitchen:)

I like the shape as well. The nice sloping line of the blade is both pleasing and useful IMO. Wouldnt be out of place when hunting.

A review/pic by Chuck Hawks with some years on it ... ;

Nice knife. Pretty thin grip. I think a forumite named 3rdGenRigger (?sp) posted a picture on this or the other forum of one that he kept in a tool pouch because of its thinness.

Edit: Found it.

Yes, on the thin side. For pocket carry not necessarily a bad thing though IMO.

Yes, so much yes. I love mine, wish I had bought two. In fact, my wife and I are right now in the hospital waiting for our second son to be born, and my OD Goddard is in my pocket. His birthday will be engraved on it, and it will be his when he is old enough.
So, Sal, if you're listening, I'd love to see another sprint in one of the Japanese super steels you have been asking for feedback on, because I am about to bequeath the only one I own :) thanks kindly!

big fan only wish next version would have screwed construction and slightly longer blade like 3.75". then it would be about perfect for me and my likes.

Excellent! Thats an occasion....and a Goddard, which will be remembered. All the best to you three.

Yes pls, a Goddard sprint. How can one not listen to the above very good argument:D

Good suggestions and I concur....but then we are of course talking another price bracket. Knife deserves it though.

More pics needed!

There is a different thread about discontinued knives that we missed. I only recently was introduced to the Goddard. Got the sprint in a trade - just to try it out. Love the size and ergonomics - the endura never quite fit my hands, but the Goddard fits great and works for when I need a larger knife.

The Goddard jr is purely a collectible - my first. Never bought a knife with no intention of using it, until the Goddard jr came up for sale. I may still carry it someday, but I really appreciate the design.

And yes - need more Goddard sprints!

I had two Goddard Jrs. Always thought the blade design was the prettiest of all the Spydercos. I would like to see them reissued, but with G10 handles in place of the micarta, which would often have small chipping visible around pins and the pivot. The micarta wasn't a good choice for securing the clip screws, either, so I'd like to see threaded inserts or metal backing plates in the handle instead of the unreinforced micarta. A bit more thickness for the handle, as a result of steel and G10 handles would be nice, too.
