I just saw the new movie, Entrapment. In the beginning, the thief (I won't tell you who) cuts a painting out of its frame using, yep, you guessed it, a Spyderco Delica. Yeah! With a resounding click the thief puts it to good(?) use. Unfortunately we don't see it again.

I'm always looking out for knives in the movies; God knows there's plenty of guns. In a recent thread there was a discussion about what knife was used in Payback (good movie!!!). Another Spyderco.

Sal, can I get an autographed 8x10 of this starlet named Delica?

Hi ekaagan,

We have a list of movies and TV shows (those we know of anyway) which Spyderco has been in, or that we've sent product to the prop dept. or set. Danelle and I both have it. If you're interested let one of us know. We'll email it to you (it's pretty long).

Joyce, that list sounds like a winner, and frankly, I think, worthy of its own post here for all of us to read. I mean, you may have to e-mail it out 50 times or so before we stop bugging you.

She's getting the list together...we just had a brief pow-wow about it....patience!

The List:
Okay here is it. The list is an ongoing compilation based on shows (prop departments and sets) that we’ve actually sent knives to (no guarantee of actually making it on film though) and on Spyderco employee’s sightings on television and in movies.

The Challenge:
Help us update, add and amend the list.

Movies:

Exposure, Heat, Cliffhanger, The Client, Bad Boys, Broken Arrow, The Fan, Point of No Return, Eraser, Flipper, Going West, Invasion of Privacy, The Juror,
Hard Target, Seven, Jennifer 8, Strange Days, Sudden Death, Under Siege II,
Terminal Velocity, River Wild, Daylight, Great Expectations, Face Off, Starship Troopers, Scam, Crazy Sitter, One Man’s Justice, Recall, Anaconda, Delta Force Two, Black Dog, Recoil, Message in a Bottle, Out of Sight, Avengers, Practical Magic, Natural Born Killers, Doom Generation, Point Break, Entrapment, Psycho, Payback, Mission Impossible II (still filming)

Television Shows and made for TV movies:

48 Hours, Pro Shooting on ESPN, American Shooter, Cops, Dynasty,
The Enemy, Discovery Channel, Touched by an Angel, Earth 2, Babylon 5, Perry Mason, Tonight Show-Jay Leno, SportsFair America, This Old House, Outdoor Adventure Magazine, L.A.P.D., Profiler, Millennium, Home Improvement, Needful Things, Murder She Wrote, Live with Regis and Cathy Lee, Mr. Murder, Outer Limits, Trucks! (TNN), Promised Land, Homicide, Trailside, Air America, Angel’s Dance

Whoa! Quite a list. Thanks for posting it. It's great to see that folding knives are becoming d'riguer in action films. Now, if we can only teach them how to use them...

I seem to remember that a Police model was shown prominently in a movie called "No Mercy", or something like that. It was set in the Cajun country of Louisiana and featured Kim Basinger (that's the part that really sticks in my mind).

"Space: Above And Beyond" (I think). I recently saw an episode on SFN where the colonel used what looked like a clipit of some type.

well there is either a rescue or a mariner used in the movie "summer of sam" the movie about Son of Sam directed by Spike Lee now spyderco knifes were not around in that time so what is wrong with that picture?

About a months past, there was a TV showed aired on the east coast featuring one of the Baldwin bros.(can' t remember the name)in a Dean Koontz novel (can' t remember that name either) for television. His bad guy clone produced a stainless Mariner and opened it in a stealth manner behind his leg. But he never did use it!! Darn...
