Golden knife maker takes aim at alleged

In a lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in Denver, Golden's Spyderco sued Kittery Trading Post, claiming the Maine-based retailer has carved out an illicit niche selling knock-off Spyderco knives for a sliver of the price and quality of the Colorado ...

Yikes. Only been there once right before closing and didn't buy anything.

Curious, what did Sal use to cut the ribbon in the picture? EDIT: Sal cut the ribbon with a Fluted Titanium Military Model engraved for the event. It will be on display at SFO.

Thanks for sharing. It's good see some knife justice finally! You know, if bad, dishonest people would just use all that effort on doing things right, they could be successful too without trying to ruin someone else in the process.
Good for you Sal, and sorry you and so many other hard working individuals have to go through that kind of crap.

what about ebay and amazon? see more fakes sold as real there than anywhere...

Wonder what other fake merchandise this place has pushed out, I know fake North Face stuff is out there.

Wow... I haven't been up to KTP in a couple years. I used to like fondling the Randalls.

Guess I won't be stopping in next time I head up to Maine.

Glad to hear this. It's always a good idea to only purchase from trusted retailers. If a price is too good to be true it probably is.

Awesome! Hopefully it will send a message to the next person/company trying to counterfeit a Spyderco knife. Pull the tail of the tiger and sooner or later, you WILL get the claws.

Glad to see this! I can't imagine how frustrating this has to be for Sal and really everyone that works at spyderco. Can you picture someone unwittingly buying a fake PM2 then when it falls apart or doesn't perform the owner bad mouths spyderco to everyone and anyone that will listen! Also it's bad enough the Chinese produce these fakes but then you have an "American" company knowingly traffic in them. I'd never buy a thing from them!

Mike

I really want a necklace like theirs. Does anyone know it's back story?

Good. I absolutely HATE people that counterfeit. It's one thing to steal someones design, but to put out a copy, or label your product as something it isn't, that absolutely boils my blood. You're stealing from both the company and the consumer at that point, and in return giving them junk.

I noticed a "clone" Para 2 and Mili when visiting once or twice this past summer/fall. They were in the used knife case and I assumed that someone had sold or traded them in. I didn't see any fakes in the new case. Even if they're taking them in used I think it's unethical. And their markup is absurd.
Broadly speaking KTP never has good deals on used knives anymore. And they don't stock higher-end models so I never get to check out the newest Spydies.
