I don't know what they make the lockbar out of, but I picked up a Salt I this spring to use as my swimming knife.
I've had in in the Pacific twice, in the Russian River twice, and in both oxygen- and chlorine-treated swimming pools numerous times.
As in, 5 different cholrine-treated pools, for anywhere from 15 minutes to 3 hours at a time, and over a dozen times total already.
Typically, when I'm done swimming, I leave it in my trunks for 1-4 hours, then drop in in a nightstand drawer. A couple times, since I was away from home, I just left it in my trunks for a few days.
I think I dried it once.
It shows absolutely no signs of rust or corrosion on the blade or lockbar. It still looks brand new save for a couple light scratches and one chip in the blade
(from hitting concrete when I was cutting low to the ground - user-error, nothing to be concerned about toughness-wise.)
For me, it fits the bill perfectly, and I have no idea what it would take to actually take to make corrosion begin.
Color me impressed.
