Saw the Spyderco Hanan on the shotshow 2017 video from BladeHQ. Knew about a lot of the new models but that one surprised me. Ever since the Spydie Southard (which I sold) and the Midtech Tolk I have been a big fan of Brad Southard. Even more when I was watching Grimso knives and how tight they were as friends. Well behold cant wait to sample one of his designs yet again.

Not sure if the video is already fast forward to the knife but move to 18:08 minutes

Just quote the follwoing and you'll see. Unfortunately, you can't have it go to a time stamp this way.

If it's on bearings, the steel liners of the comp lock should remove any "thin washer" issues from the equation. I have a feeling this one will flip very well!

This is the knife that excites me the most from what I've seen (online) from this year's shot show.

I like it....other than the recurve. Not a fan of all of the recurves this year coming from multiple manufacturers.

Looks sharp. I wish they added a relief cut in the bolster to improve access to the compression lock.

Here are a few pictures of my old custom Hanan:

Anyone have any idea on the Spyderco Hanan specs?

Blade Length:
Handle Length:
Steel:

EDIT: the blade looks a bit funky to me compared to the original custom Hanan by Brad.

I wish they'd made it with a blanking plate for the non-clip side. The divot seems out of place on a gent's folder.

That plunge line really kills it for me. If this was 204P FFG or Hollow grind with no plunge line, I would buy 10 the moment they hit the market. I still think the original Southard folder is the best of the bunch.

The blade steel is S30v.

I ran some photo comparisons with the Chaparral from the BladeHQ video and it looks like the Hanan is approximately in the 7/4/3 range (similar to the Positron).

Tyvm for the info figured as much it did look small to my eyes. If only it was like 3.5 inch blade or so

I love the handle and the compression lock flipper concept, but I really don't like the blade shape, especially the heavy recurve. Maybe it's just the photos but the Spyderco looks much more "recurved" than the custom.

I'd be all over this knife if it had a traditional "leaf" blade shape or something.

Indeed it does like a huge recurve, especially for such a small blade. If only the blade looked closer to Brad's custom

I need to start saving my money. Some really sweet knives coming from Spyderco this year!
