I returned my Spyderco/Centofante to Colorado for repair of a busted blade, and they repied that it could not be repaired or replace, since it's been discontinued.
They did offer to replace it with something of equal value, since it was a mnfg. defect.
Now here's the catch, they gave me a $129.95 credit to use however I want, from their catalog,(all prices are MSRP)
What combination of knives would you go for staying within $5 of the amount allowed, to get the most from the catalog?
I was leaning towards the mini Police necklace/MN07 $75.95 and the C64 Meerkat $54.95 total $130.90
I,ve got till the first week in June to decide, otherwise they send the broken knife back.
ATE,(Allen)lookin' forward to your input.

I didn't see the MSRP on there, but I'd get the Military even if I had to pay a little more. It's truly my favorite Spydie. For something smaller, wait a bit and get the Mini Mili! I know I want one!

I'll put in my two cents...

The mini Police necklace seems like a cool collector's item, but not very practical, especially for the price tag. I'd rather have a Jester or a Ladybug in something about that size.

I've been very interested in the Meerkat but there have been reports on the forums of QC problems with this model. Not a ton of posts, mind you, but more than usual for a Spyderco product. For this reason, I've been skeptical about getting one.

I've been interested in picking up a Salsa, but only the Aluminum version is within your budget, not the Ti version.

You want something really awesome for your money? Pick up the Perrin fixed blade! It retails for $127.95 and it's the most knife you're going to get with that budget. I love mine! Other fixed blade options include the Morans which are great all around user knives.

The Police model is another great knife that is within your budget: a true Spyderco classic.

You should also consider chipping in a little more money to maybe pick up a Military.

If you only have until June to claim your credit, you won't be able to get a Paramilitary (the Mini-Military). That is atleast 6 months away.

Good luck and let us know what you decide!

If I were you, I'd take a look at the Chinook. Those folders are built to handle just about anything!.:).

This is quite a coincidence, since I received notice just today that I have $153 credit for my Centofante II, that I had sent in for minor repair. It seems that something was wrong with it that I wasn't aware of - I'll miss that knife. I'm kinda leaning toward the Tim Zowada, or adding $15 for the Chinook. Or getting the SS Police in VG-10 w/the Boye Dent and having enuff left over for a nice benchstone. Would like to have a Ti handled Lum Tanto or another Starmate, but I guess they're discontinued. At your price point, I believe I'd nail that Police.

I say get the Vesuvius. It is a Centofante design and a great knife. Then maybe the Meerkat or Jester. :)

Blades

Alright folks ,"The Envelope Please", "and the winners of the what should I get with my refund money from Spyderco"
The Stainless Steel Dragon Fly With PLain ATS55 Blade, and
The FRN Dyad Jr. also with ATS55 Blades

I figure 3 Blades for 1, I've never owned any of them, and I've never had an ATS55 blade before.:D

Update:: Just got my two replacements,(Mini Dyad, Stainless Dragonfly),for the broken Spyderco/Centofante, gotta say Mike Hayes from Spydercos Warranty/Repair Dept. was great to deal with, and an excellent example of Spydercos commitment to customer satisfaction.
I would recommend them to anyone looking to buy a quality knife backed by a excellent warranty.:D :D
