Which model was the first to have SpyderEdge?

Which model was the first to have an FRN handle?

LOL. Having other people do the work for you, eh? That's pretty cheesy.

In any case, the contest ended yesterday. I have to agree with invective, answers can be found there or on Spyderco's site.

Hi Jewie,

Welcome to our forum.

The first model was the Clipit "Worker" 2-7/8" plain edge blade, stainless scales, tip down clip in right hand models (80%) and left hand models (20%). 1981.

The first serrated model was the "Mariner" in 1982.

The first FRN model was The Endura in 1990. FRN integral clip, tip up right hand only.

The 20% left hand models was a generous concession to left handed people since only 10% of people are left handed.

Click on link. Click on "Full". Each knife is listed by date of introduction with descriptions and variations on original. Great resource.

We did our own survey and came up with 20%. Gail is left handed so maybe she rigged the poll? ;)

I already checked the website first before coming here. If the answers were there, I wouldn't be asking. Thanks Sal for answering my questions up front without any B.S. The contest ends on the 31st FYI.

If I could find the answers on the Spyderco website, I wouldn't be asking here. There's no detailed history, they only show what year each knife was released. There's no details as to when the Spyderedge came out or when FRN was first released.

Just out of curiosity, what does 'double tap' mean in this context? BTW, I found the answers to the calendar questions within about 10 minutes of searching the net. (Not trying to be smart, just sayin');)

IIRC, sometimes the forum software has a burp and posts your replies twice. The second one is called a "double tap" and deleted by the poster when discovered.
