Any other Spyderco Hundred Pacer users out there? I was breaking down cardboard boxes today and man, this knife makes it easier than any other knife I've used. Is there a BETTER slicer?

Had one, didn't love it. But man, the thin blade, one hell of a slicer. Great scale design too.

Holding out for a smaller version although then Rhino is pretty close.

Great knife!

Have one, carry it sometimes but don't use it to cut anything (which is the case for most of my knives).

Believe it or not, there IS a better slicer for cardboard. A disposable razor blade. Glides through cardboard like it was made for the task.

Since there’s no fun in that, I bet that one would do a good job. Always more fun to use a knife than a box cutter.

Actually, a $1-5 box cutter or utility knife is all I ever use to cut up a box. Sometimes, I don't even use a knife at all; just my hands. Simply doesn't make sense to me to use any of the $20-400 knives in my collection for this purpose when you could use a box cutter or utility knife w/cheap and easily replaceable/disposable razor blades instead.

What a 100 Pacer would be REALLY good for is slicing meat or, if you use it for SD, through cloth and flesh. It would be excellent for those purposes and, if you did, it probably wouldn't even leave a mark on the blade. However, I have lots of kitchen and SD knives better suited for those purposes well. LOL! ;)

I own the Hundred Pacer and it is a great slicer. However there a plethora of fantastic slicers made by Spyderco. I would invite you to try a Manix or Manix XL, just to name a couple:thumbsup:

Utility knives just aren't much fun, lol! I may look into the Manix XL, thanks!

An interesting skinner design that would be better for field dressing whitetail deer than cutting cardboard in my opinion. But a better skinner is the Spyderco Bill Moran drop point fixed blade which I what I use.

Very nice, but I have a Benchmade Saddle Mountain Skinner for deer and wild hogs...

Had I known how much I would like the Hundred Pacer I would have bought 2 or 3 at the price I got mine at....oh, well, next time.

I don't have the said knife but the big belly does not seem to make it the best cardboard slicer. I think my Police 4 will out-slice it. I agree with an above poster that it looks like a better deer-dressing folder.

All I can say, from personal experience, is it is the best cardboard slicer I've used, YMMV. Very impressed.

This. I keep a couple of SAK's, a number 0f 3"-4" fixed blades, and a Stanley No. 199 utility knife within reach of my workbench. Guess which one gets used to cut open the cardboard packages my new purchases come in-that's right, the Stanley. The blade doesn't retract so it's always ready to rock n' roll, and gets the job done with no fuss and no muss. Can't go wrong.

have one. very underrated on its looks and size. the handle is incredible how it sits in the hand. it's a great knife.

I completely agree. I think if more people actually held one, they would buy it. Great slicer and the ergos were a definite surprise.
