That is known as the "economy". Is is a variation of the C05 standard. Welcome

Unfortunately as a non paying member of the site values can not be discussed. You can try checking ebay under completed auctions for a idea of value.

WHAT IS MY KNIFE / GADGET / SPATULA / TUNING FORK WORTH ?!?!?!?!
In order to curtail potential abuse of membership privileges associated with the forums, questions regarding valuation of knives and collections are limited to those with a membership level which permits selling on this site. Wow you got an old Economy for $35? Nice!
I always liked the look of that knife.
They're pretty hard to find now though.

Dear Blade Buffs,

I believe I have this knife. Cannot send photo but will add to the description. Mid Lock back. 4 visible rivets on clip side. Clip appears to have been cut from the metal side and bent into shape, not bolted or riveted on, but an integral part of the side.

Got this knife at a gun show mid 80's. It has been a superb camping knife, very sturdy, still no blade wiggle after heavy use including non knife uses like prying. Accidentally dropped many times including on rocks while climbing, also into mud and sand. Cleans up wonderfully even after cleaning fish, etc. Never any rust

Questions:
What manner of steel is this?
Any sharpening tips? It keeps an edge for a long time but is a BEAR to sharpen. I use soft Arkansas (which is actually a medium abrasive) when bad dull, hard Arkansas stone to polish the edge, then strop on suede.

Thank you in advance.

According to the 1986 Spyderco catalog, it's 6-A. IIRC 6-A is similar to, but may not be exactly the same as, AUS-6.

Attn: The Deacon,

Thank you for the input. This is quite a valuable source of data.

Sincerely,
