Spyderco Impala: Did Ed Scott design it originally with or without guthook?

I recently obtained both versions of this knife. It was originally designed in collaboration with Ed Scott, a South African custom knife maker. Was it originally designed with or without the guthook by Ed? Did he possibly make both versions?
