So while I'm sure 99% of you don't know what anime is, or can't be bothered to care, as a knife enthusiast I thought this was pretty cool.

In an animated series I'm watching the main character in one scene has what seems to be a spyderco. Though likely fictional, it does damn well looks like a spyderco. To me it kinda looks like a spyderco nilakka.

If it isn't fictional, and you know the model let me know. Whoever correctly guesses what the series is gets a cookie :). Another reason this surprised me is due to Japans exceedingly strict knife laws which I don't think would even allow this knife.

And for anyone who wants to hate on people who watch animated shows, go ahead because you opinion means nothing to me.

Good guess senseless, though incorrect. AoT was excellent however.

I was thinking is could also be a para too.

My 2 cents. Anime has been around for some decades now and I'm an old head raised on Akira and the Macross stuff. The knife also looks a bit like the Hissatsu and I have no idea what this is from so I will throw out a solid guess, Cowboy Bebop?

The anime is Parasyte. You should of covered the top left corner of the image. :) Also, I would say it looks like a PM2 to me.

Edit: just watched the first episode, which the knife is in. Tip got snapped off almost immediately, so it must be a PM2. ;)

I think it looks like a Nilakka.

It looks very generic to me but it's got a little Renegade/JD Smith thing going on.
Other than the hole it could be many different brands.

It is funny now that I find myself pausing video to see what knife is being used. Unfortunately most of the time it's something low quality.

I think it's clearly the Nilakka. I believe the carry law in Japan is Maximum 3.7 inch blade. Plus Spydercos
are very popular in Japan.

I saw what looked a lot like a Microtech folder in an anime several years ago...I think it was the Cowboy Bebop(?) movie. I like some anime but am not obsessively into it.

I think another anime also had a Spyderco Warrior.

looks more PM2ish to me as well. zoom in a bit and you can see at least 1 clear finger groove. Most knives in anime are pretty generic. In the 3rd arc of Irregular at Magic High one of the characters ueses what very much looks like a MT Trodon. thats the only fairly recognizeable one i have seen lately.

Great...now I have to go and rewatch that just to find the Microtech.

And rostislav, you get the cookie :) good guess. I knew it was visible in the top corner, but was too lazy to edit it out. How did you like the first episode?

The blade is definitely military shaped. Long and almost clip pointy, with the hump behind the spyderhole. The handles also look like that squared off g10. As far as Cowboy Bebop the movie is concerned its a DA Microtech tanto socom; the main villain pulls it out twice.

I am currently on episode 7, so... I guess that sums up how much I like it. :)

Its in the hospital fight between Liu Gongou and the Chiba brother that Mari is dating(I don't remeber his nam). Liu refers to him as "Illusion Blade".

Why would I care what you watch?

The knife part is interesting, though.

I just rembered, the main character in Aria the Scarlet Ammo carries a wicked Sabzo-esqe balisong.

I wasn't sure about bladeforums, but there are plenty of people on the internet who will judge people based on the shows they watch. I mean, a MINORITY of people here will judge others based on the knives they buy.
