Spyderco Inquiry..Huh?

I recently saw that in the 2010 Spyderco catalog that they will offer a Manix 2 in forest green with a different steel blade. I emailed Spyderco to inquire about when this knife will be available and how/where I might purchase one and this is the reply I received:

"Chris,
We haven't heard of a forest green Manix2 coming out, but we do get surprised sometimes with a new release. Keep checking the website or contact us later.


Spyderco Factory Outlet

Golden Colorado 80403"


What is up with that????
 
It isn't actually shown full blown in the catalog but just at the end under 2010 Limited Production Sprint Runs in the very end end of the Catalog..that is weird though that they would not heard of it when it is indeed shown in the listed area with a full blown description and small picture of it in Foliage Green.

Zippo is right. it is gonna have foliage green with carpenter steel. should be good
 
Guess it's just that whoever at SFO answered your email hasn't really looked at the catalog. Just because something's in the catalog doesn't mean it's out yet, or even close enough that the sales folks are certain to know about it. Some of the items in it may not hit the streets for months yet, so it's very possible they have no idea of when they will get it. You may also have confused them, since the Sprint Run Manix 2 is going tol be foliage green, not forest green.

Ah, I suppose I may have caused confusion with the forrest, rather than foilage, green description...Still, I would have thought they would have made mention of that...I think it more likely who ever answered the email has yet to see the catalog or study it in detail...

Can anyone here answer my basic question, i.e., how can this model be purchased?

when it becomes available it will be purchasable through all the usual channels. No idea when it will be available at this time tho' just "sometime"
 
If you are ready to commit to buying it now, without even knowing what the price will be, contact a dealer or two and ask to be put on their waiting list for it. Tom at spydercovt.com has been helpful to me in that regard.
