I had a bad experience recently with another Knife brand and I was looking though the general forum here and ran across a thread asking if you had to pick one Knife brand to buy from from now on. So I just thought I'd say my thoughts and opinions.

Spyderco is Awesome

Spyderco for sure. They have a great attitude about making the knife your own and welcome it. They do wonderful collaborations with lots of unique makers from all over the world. They are not afraid to think and go upside the box. They also don't ignore their lifeblood while doing that. They continuously refresh their mainline; PM2, Manix 2, Yojimbo 2, Delica, Endura, Stretch, etc with new steels, new handles materials, and different colors in the same material.
I have nothing but good things to say about them and they have my respect.

Hear hear!

Nobody does user-friendliness like Spyderco, and they really take CQI seriously.

I feel the same way, even with the map pricing. I was upset for about a day then i got over it. Ive had tons of knives from all the major brands, but now Ive refined my taste and its almost all spyderco. I love spydercos and have remained committed to them longer than i have anything else in my life. Jobs, women, hobbies, cars, you name it those things change. The only thing you can consistently count on with me at this point in my life is that there will be a spyderco in my pocket.

Agree!!
And with Eric Glesser at the helm, Spyderco will continue to please knife folk well into the future.
Thank you, Spyderco.

Spyderco is, to date, the only knife company that I got into and then effectively never looked back from. I do, rarely, diverge for something special, but for the most part, as soon as I had a PM2 in my hands I knew I was a Spyderco guy. Love the ergos, the aesthetics, the materials, the construction, the function...everything just fits so, so well with what I look for in a knife. I'm glad that you found your way to Spyderco and to this sub-forum!

yeah, I'm the same way. I have bought some non-Spyderco stuff, but everything about the way Spydercos handle just makes so much sense that I don't feel the need to shop around that often. I think a big draw of Spyderco is their consistency. with some other brands you have to research each individual knife to figure out if it works well, if the ergos make sense, if the deployment works, if there's QC issues ... with Spyderco it's pretty much, if you like the look of it you can buy it, you know exactly what you're going to get in terms of build quality and design quality.

Yup. I carry my Manix 2 XL more than any other knife I own. Although, that may change...when the Chinook 4 finally hits. :D

I own many other knife brands but Spyderco is the one I always look to first. I have never had an issue or a knife I didn't like, that cannot be said for the other brands I own. I could spend hours in the factory outlet store just looking and talking to the awesome staff they have up there in Golden.

Yes. I own and buy other brands but Spyderco is by far my favorite. They just do everything very good. There are no negatives. That is hard to say about other makers.
2x Delica
2x Para2
3x Dragonfly
Manix2
Manix2 xl
Salt 1
Persistence
2x Endura

I strayed today and bought a griptilian with the hole in the blade just to see what benchmade's are all about.

I carry a PM2 everyday and have for many years, and cant wait for the PM3 to come out.

This will be my first and last benchmade purchase, not knocking BM but it aint no spyderco!

Funny story, while buying the BM today the wife said "let me see your knife in your pocket", plucked the PM2 from pocket and handed it to her, after she played with both of them for 5 minutes she said she would rather carry the PM2 than the Grip 550hg, she said it felt better and was easier to open. Well I have several PM2's for back-ups, she asked if she could have one to carry in her purse, I said no, there my back-ups, we will buy you a brand new one.

SO me buying a different brand turned into buying another Spyderco PM2! Laughing my butt off still.
Spyderco has some kind of jedi mind thing going or something, they know when your going to buy another brand, the force is strong with them. LOLOLOL

Thanks Mr.Glesser!

I've pretty much given up on all the other brands. Even Chris Reeve! Spyderco products just tick all the boxes for me: State of the art steels, great design, quality materials, great ergonomics, affordable pricing, etc. The pocket clip and the round hole opener top a long list of truly marvelous innovations. Sal's participation in the online Spyderco community and the example of his ethics also mean a lot to me.

I love all the great comments!

Sal, you are awesome. I wish I lived in Colorado so I could work with you. Design some knives. Share ideas. Make people happy.

I have duplicates of every Spyderco I own.
I love all of them. It's so hard to rotate one out for another.

My P'Kal and Yojimbo 2 s90v almost always get carried. The compression lock is my favorite lock of all time. I feel the safest with that lock knowing it can pretty much never fail.
I love frame locks but they almost all fail the spine test...yesterday stupid test...but hay..Murphys law.

I'm so excited for the mamba!

I agree; Spyderco is awesome. They are the reason I became a knife addict, at one point I had about 35 to 40 Spydies; which I have been selling in brand new condition and get almost what I paid for them; so they are also a good investment, my grand kids first knives where the wood Dragonfly; it was a blast to watch them build them, such a smart move to get kids into knives this way; they of course needed help, but who else thinks of kids like Sal? Or whoever came up with the idea.

I still have one of those I bought for myself just to have it, my grand son managed to lose the pin of course; but there is no better way to introduce kids to knives in a safe way than this:

Yeah, I'm a fan for life; I have carried a PM2 since I got it three years ago, I try to carry other knives and brands and the PM2 always comes back in my right pocket, amazing knife:

Thanx much for the kind words.

sal

Thanks for the great knives and great and open communication.

Like others have said, this is one company that I started buying from and never looked back. You don't win my money every time, but you get it the majority of the time.

In fact, even though i picked up a new benchmade today locally, i ordered another new spyderco on the same invoice to gift to my dad for christmas. The last two knives where spyderco and the one i buy that isnt gets bought with an order for another spyderco at the same time!

Its a dragonfly2, I want one for me also, but im a firm believer that everyone could use a pocket knife. You never realise how useful it is till you carry one around and i wouldnt want the old man to get something sub par. Since he doesnt typically carry a knife i figured the smaller DF2 and mainly the light weight, would be perfect as if its something bothersome then he probably wont give it a shot.

I'll add my $. 02. I've dabbled in the exchange for a couple years but I'm not NEW to knives. I love this forum because I learn something every day. Now here's my spyderco story. Last year, around October, my dealer got me a black/black pm2 because I wanted to see what it was all about. I got it. I didn't love it. I didnt care for the blade shape, and being a former BM snob, I didnt like the lock mechanism because it was different than what I was used to. I promptly sold the knife.

Fast forward a year. Something about Spyderco blade shapes in general started speaking to me and growing on me. I just received another PM2 in the mail and holy crap I dont know why I didn't like it before. I LOVE it and I have bought 5 Spyderco knives in the last 3 days.

Thank you Sal for making not only good knives, but knives that grow on your soul.

I agree with most that there is certainly something very special about Spyderco knives. I have CKRT's and Benchmades and such and the last six purchases have all be Spyderco's. I don't ever research other brands now. With six Spyderco's in the stable I am still looking at adding more...so many different models and uses and colors and style. Heck each one has it's very own style~!

Thanks Spyderco!

With all due respect, you're doing yourself a disservice, in my opinion. Don't ever limit yourself to a single brand, no matter what product we're talking about.

It's like a band where you enjoy all the albums, know all songs, and memorize the bass lines, guitar riffs, beat patterns, solos, and lyrics by heart.

There is a huge variety of songs to reach a wide audience and they all sound very unique and different, yet have some points that tie them all together. They have a song to fit nearly any genre, but it is instantly recognizable as theirs. You have your favorite songs you listen to daily, but can get down to any of them, some on special occasions.

This band also likes to experiment, using cutting edge sounds and instruments that most other bands don't have the skill or daring to try. Their recording quality is also at the top of the industry.
Sometimes they have special guests to write their own version of songs with this band. Many guests are all-time greats, some are unexpected newcomers.

And the best part is that this bands producer/singer likes to interact and hear from fans on what to write next and what they liked and disliked about the old songs. AND also donates some proceeds to benefit good causes! :)

Yeah, many of us occassionally still like to hear a few songs from other different bands... but we don't jump up with a fist pump anytime their songs come on.
We don't follow other bands release dates and tours the same way.
This band doesn't ride on trends nor blare out meaningless nonsense just to make a quick profit. They are no one-hit wonder.
They are here to put out timeless classics.

Spyderco is the jam! :D
