I finally got my hands on a Kapara to review! I can see what the hype is about, it's well finished, the carbon fiber is very very nice, and the blade shape is useful. You're getting a nicely ground slicey blade in a lightweight package. The action is good as is the case with most of Spydeco's compression locks. Overall is a wonderful knife and I really enjoyed my time with it.

The Kapara is a "nice" knife like many other Spydercos are but just like the Slyze Bowie, I don't see what the fuss is about.

Both are Spydercos that I've chosen NOT to own and I own over 100 already. FWIW, I prefer the K2 to the Slyze Bowie and the Amalgam to the Kapara, which bear similarities to each other but IMO the K2 & Amalgram are superior to their counterparts.

Other people certainly will disagree. Different strokes for different folks.

Yeah I can completely understand that point of view. The Kapara is very nice, but not a game changer. And I wouldn't pay the $500 that the Slyze Bowie is going for these days.

I'm still considering getting a Kapara someday, but I have a SpydieChef and think they may end up being pretty similar in use.

Yeah they are both made for food prep so I’d imagine they’re similar. I need to try out a SpydieChef myself!

It’s my favorite Spyderco. Super slicy rustproof blade, great construction quality. Full-size grip but thin and easy to carry. Smooth action. I imagine the Kapara’s grip may be more comfortable.

Indeed a pretty blade unfortunately I had to return mine because compression lock was very hard to press, perhaps some tinkering could've solve the problem; btw, I love the CL action on my Sage 5 LW

Great score on the Kapara! It is a great design. Extremely ergonomic, smooth to deploy and the blade grind is wicked sharp.
I have both it and the Amalgram and they are very different designs. They feel completely different in the hand. I much prefer the Kapara for daily uses.
