What do you make of this particular karambit.. Some are fans of the larger grip whereas others bash it, and not just according to individual hand size. What really differentiates the all stainless Spyderco Karambit from the standard Emerson folding karambit in terms of practical tactical application. I am undecided and I need some help, because I have a choice between the Emerson and the Spydie and I am leaning towards the Spyderco, despite the fact that it is not waved and is an all stainless design. Could some owners please give me their opinions. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I only own the Emerson but have handled the Spyderco. Aside from the differences you noted another is the fact that the Spyder seems to be more of a right angle. In other words when your pinky finger is in the hole and you punch, the Spyderco is more point forward. I do not know if this is good or bad but it certainly changes the way in which I would use them.

Its very heavy , an slippery as hell , the Ergos are inferior to the Emerson .

I own both and in many ways the Emerson feels better. But, the lock-up and grip of the Spyderco really appeals to me. I carry the Spyderco often. The stainless steel gets scuffed up quite easily but that does not alter the function of the knife. The Spyderco has been discontinued so you should pick one up while you can.

My opinion is that you should purchase both the Emerson and Spyderco for your collection.

I agree with chris-aka cdf. I dont remember it being all that heavy but all the rest is spot on. The other thing is that even though it is all stainless it seemed to have a bit of flex and felt kinda flimsy to me. It is one of the few (and i mean very few) spydercos i dont like the quality of.

thanks for the feedback. I opted for the Spyderco today. Something about those stupid holes in the handle of the Emerson is stylistically off-putting. As far as your comment about stainless scratching as easily as it does, does anyone know of a transparent adhesive thats easy to apply and remove, that i could use to protect the surfaces of my stainless knives? Again thanks a lot guys.

I had both but sold the Emerson. The hole felt too small on the E K-bit.Kept the spydie.

Have the spydie and love it. I think the lock is probably stronger than Emerson's. I posted pictures in the Spyderco forum recently too, by the way.
