Yeah, I've been waiting to see this one too. Actually, I 've hold on purchases of folders until I see the new lineup.

This is one BAD A** string cutter. I actually got to handle one yesterday. It has the feel of a Wegner but even MORE hefty! Well made, BEAUTIFUL too!

I've had more paper cuts than cuts from knives, but the knives are QUICKLY gaining!

I got to check one out today and it is a super sturdy knife. I know that James Keating designed it, but it looks much more like a hunting or camp knife than a fighter to me. It is also pretty heavy (7.5 oz.)and thick. I don't know how comfortable it will be for everyday carry. It really seems like it would be a winner for outdoor use to me. The lockback design, however, is proof that we don't really need so many new lock designs. The lock on the Chinook was super smooth and almost impossible to accidentally disengage. The blade was 440V and was an aggressive hollow ground. I think this will be a good addition to the Wegner and Military as high end utility/outdoors knives.
Personally, I hope that the Chinook is big hit because I would love to see a 3" version made in the same heavy duty fashion.

Just some quick questions: Where did you see the review by Jerry VanCook and does anyone know what the blade length turned out to be? Thanks!

Ahh... Thanks for the heads up, Shrike9; I don't think I've seen that forum before. It looks like the blade length turned out to be 3 7/16". That's especially nice for me because Denver prohibits blades longer than 3.5"! {cue evil laughter}

If you haven't seen them yet, James Mattis put some other pics of the prototype here, here and here. (That last pic also includes the Gunting and Temperance protos)

Jerry's forum has some good info on it, not to mention all the info about Newt's knives.
