So I'm in the market for a good Edc currently my choices are spyderco tenacious G-10, Kershaw Skyline, Ontario RAT-1, and Ontario RAT-3. I'm Currently working on a farm, and I'm also a mechanic (figured this might help the decision?). Currently my edc's are a morakniv carbon, and a case sod buster, but i'm growing tired of the size of the mora in public dont get me wrong i love the knife and fixxed blades but after 1000 times of someone coming up to me and say damn u got a sword man and me replying not really gets old lol. (also i want a new knife :P) your suggestion doesn't have to be one of the listed any ideas will be GREATLY appreciated.
Sorry for the ramble Thx jbb

Of your 3 choices I would go with the Ontario. The one I had was a beast. I gave it to my brother as he was knife-poor but it was a good knife for the money. I love Kershaw products for the most part but I don't think the Skyline is what you are looking for. The ones I've seen in person just haven't held up to hard use very well. Kershaw has lots of other offerings that would be good though. Try and find one of the non-composite JYDs or something. They can be had for a little more than the Skyline on the popular auction sites. The Buck Vantage is also a good one. Kabar Phat Bob is a good one.

I have no experience with the Tenacious so can't comment on that one.

I have the Ontario Rat-1 and the Spyderco Persistence which is a slightly smaller Tenacious. Both are great and sturdy knives that would welcome some hard use, but i prefer the Spydie hole than a thumbstud [personal preference]. Can't go wrong with either IMO.

Spyderco persistence is a good edc knife also victorinox huntsman, forester ete etc, usefull tools for farm / workshop enviroments. Have fun Faron.

if spyderco consider the Native. It costs more than the tenacious but come with s30v steel

Thanks for the replies everyone... I still cant decide, currently I'm leaning towards the spyderco because I've never had one and it looks nice im kinda iffy on the liner lock tho

I second the kershaw junkyard dog 2. Three reasons, thick liner lock you don't have to worry about, can handle mechanic abuse, and best of all made in the USA.

There's also the Benchmade griptillian series.
Not too expensive but axis lock and 154cm steel blade.
easy to open and close 1 hand and opens smooth as butter but locks solid with no blade play

I just got a tenacious, and I can vouch for the liner lock being completely solid. No play at all, and I have no worries about it failing on me. I work on a farm as well, and I haven't run into anything the tenacious can't handle yet. My only concern- it looks too damn nice to beat up!

It collapsing on my hand like 2 previous gerbers... It was painful  and it being loose.

It ain't no Gerber bud! :D

The tenacious has a pretty thick liner lock, but more importantly Spyderco definitely knows how to design a solid lock.

Of your choices the Spydie would be my pick, BUT (note the big but) Kershaw has a few models that are much better suited to rough use, the kershaw storm, even the salvo, maybe you can find a used blur on the cheap, or one of the tanto tipped walmart/ebay ones that show up.

Thanks thanks thank y'all have helped me out more than you thing... I've decided to go with the spyderco Endura 4 FFG because its a combo of everything I wanted and its VG10 steel .
Also its nice to see someone else who isn't satisfied with gerber and or looks down on them i thought i was the only one who hadn't had any luck with them besides multi tools ofc.
Also is it bad that i have about $300 worth of cutlery in my amazon cart now that i plan on buying within the next 4 months

Gerber does make a good fixed blade though (if its one of the USA made models as least) Good pick! Enduras rock

i have a tenacious and a rat 1 and there is no way in hell either are gonna fail on ya. with the rat 1 you get a little better steal however i find the nylon handle (it is NOT g10) to be slick when wet. the tenacious is one of my favorite knives. it has nice g10, is wicked fast deploying(faster then my kershaw shallot). comes spyderco sharp. and will take a hair whittling edge with ease. if i were to do it all over again i would get the tenacious without a seconds thought, while the rat-1 i would maybe look at others and then go with it...if that makes sense...good luck in your search
