Spyderco Khukuri

This may have been answered previously, but anyone know how many of these are out there? Just curious. IMO one of the coolest knife designs Ive ever seen. Just a badass little blade. Very well made too. Ive sold off a good chunk of my collection within the past week due to some large financial requirements looming in the near future, but I can't bring myself to let go of this one. Been wanting one for a long time, basically since I started collecting and found out about spyderco. Was lucky enough to snag this one on the forum. As most of you probably know, they do come up on occasion, though not that often.

Anyways, just bored on my week off work and thought I would share my crappy attempt at knife photography. Any thoughts or comments are welcome.
Also, a small unsolicited plug for the stropman strop seen in the picture. Quality craftsmanship for a steal of a price from Mr. Barber.

I don't blame you for holding on to the Khukuri. Although I've never held one it's at the top of my "to buy" list. The problem, as you noted, is they just don't come available too often...

I have my Khukuri and like it a lot. Just not a fan of the foliage green so I dyed mine black and like it even more. This one is a keeper.

There's a bunch of Anglicized spellings that are all considered correct. Or equally incorrect. However you wanna look at it. From what I've read, the accepted English spelling is the one that Spyderco uses.

Accepted English spelling: Khukri.
Transliterated Nepalese: Khukuri.

Yeah that's what I figured, but seems "khukuri" is actually used more often. Even Google image search has a tendency to recorrect my spelling of "khukri" to "khukuri" instead... probably more hits.

I see khukuri used more often in all the other sections of Blade Forum as well.

...oh well, I'll just refer to the Spyderco version as it was spelled on their box!



...I just browsed it on wikipedia. Apparently fictitiously, a Khukuri was used (along with a Bowie) to actually kill Dracula, instead of a stake, lol. And more recent, Bishnu Shrestha had fought off and killed some bandits on a train in 2010 only using a Khukuri. Haha, wild stuff!
