As a long time advocate of the Spyderco line of knives it would be interesting to the Forum if those who have trained in any Spyderco specific knife combatives program would post their observations:) :( :barf:

The Police Model is a long time favorite and I currently carry an all-black Endura as a primary pocket folder.

In Paladin's video instructional program "Death from the Shadows" I introduced the Civilian as an offensive tactical folder with military use applications.

Currently the Gunting from Spyderco is very popular with the martial arts / edged weapon audience.

Input? Observations?

Hopefully Bram is coming to St. Louis this summer. I hope to be in attendance. I will certainly post about it if I indeed get to attend.

I attended Spyderco Martial Blade Craft 1 & 2 (it goes up to level 4) and recommend it to those looking to learn defensive applications. It's taught by Michael Janich, author of Steet Steel, and the video series Fighting Folders (Paladin Press). The class is geared toward civilian self-defense using edged weapons. The techniques draw heavily from FMA, with an emphasis on disabling your attacker, as opposed to going for the kill. Class size is kept small, and drills and exercises are done with Spyderco Endura or Delica trainers which are included in the tuition. I have since trained with other well known instructors and feel that MBC gave me a very strong foundation to build on.
